Welcome Back to CHSPS!
2026-2027 School Year
Principal's Message
Welcome Back to CHSPS!
Welcome back to a new school year at Central High Sedgewick Public School!
What makes CHSPS such a remarkable school is our people. We are fortunate to have a caring, dedicated, and professional staff who are passionate about public education, building relationships, and helping our students succeed. That commitment allows us to offer our students a wide range of academic, extracurricular, and experiential opportunities.
At the heart of everything we do are our students. Our goal is simple: to know them, support them, challenge them, and help them discover what they are capable of becoming. Whether in the classroom, on the court, on the stage, at work, or in the community, we want every student to find opportunities to grow, belong, and thrive.
As principal, I am incredibly proud to lead CHSPS and grateful to work alongside our staff, families, and community. We will certainly face challenges this year, but I know that by working together with a shared focus on our students, we can continue to make our school something special.
To our students: this is your school. Get involved, try something new, take chances, and make this year count. Know that you belong here and that we believe in you.
Our priorities for the year
Our School Education Plan continues to guide our work and supports BRSD’s priorities for student learning, well-being and success. We encourage families to take some time to review our School Education Plan and 2026–27 School Calendar, which includes important dates, school breaks and other information to help you plan for the year ahead.
Safe, caring and inclusive schools
Creating a safe and welcoming learning environment is a shared responsibility. With the passing of Bill 25, our school will be reviewing and updating our Student Code of Conduct/Behaviour Matrix to reflect current requirements and ensure students have clear, consistent expectations for their behaviour. This includes helping students understand the important role they play in preventing violence, looking out for one another and speaking up when they have a concern.
This work is connected to Priority 2 of our Education Plan: Student and Staff Well-Being, Mental Health and Belonging.
Personal mobile devices
We also ask families to review our expectations for personal mobile devices with their children. Students may not use personal mobile devices during instructional time. Devices must be powered off or set to silent and stored in the teacher’s classroom cell phone bin during instructional time.
CHSPS’s mobile-device expectations will be reviewed with students during the first week of school. We appreciate families reinforcing these expectations at home and helping us keep instructional time focused on learning.
More information about personal mobile devices and social media in BRSD schools is available here: Use of Personal Mobile Devices and Social Media in Schools.
Welcome back, CHSPS! I am excited for the year ahead and proud to be part of this incredible community.
Here’s to a great school year!

PowerSchool Login Information
To access the BRSD Parent Portal for the first time, visit the PowerSchool Parent Portal and click “Forgot Username or Password.” Select “Forgot Password” and enter your parent username (Firstname.Lastname, with no spaces) and the email address the school has on file. Check your email, including your junk/spam folder, for the password reset link, which is valid for 24 hours. Create a password that is at least 8 characters long and includes uppercase and lowercase letters, a number, and a special character. Return to the sign-in page and log in using your username and new password. Please note that only one account can be created per email address; families sharing an email may request an additional account from the school or share the existing account. The mobile app district code is NTPH.
We recommend using a web browser to log in to PowerSchool. Once logged in, you will be able to access all required pages and services from one convenient location. The Main screen will show you your child’s classes as well as marks and comments. The Menu on the left side is where you will find all the links:
‘School Forms & Fees’ to complete school-related forms, including field trip, consent, and athletics forms, as well as pay any applicable fees.
‘School Engage’ to complete your child’s re-enrolment forms.
‘Demographic Info’ if you ever need to find your child's Alberta Student ID

IXL Learning
Students at CHSPS will have access to IXL again this year. The accounts have been expanded to include English and mathematics. Your child’s teacher will reach out with more details about how to access this resource. It’s a great way to build literacy and numeracy skills.

Dual Credit Health Care Aide Program
There are still several seats available in our Dual Credit Health Care Aide program through NorQuest College!
This is a great opportunity for students interested in health care, but students do not need to plan on becoming a Health Care Aide to benefit from the program. The course provides foundational health care skills and knowledge that can be valuable in a variety of medical and health-related careers.
The program has been very well received by BRSD students and offers a manageable course load designed with high school schedules in mind. Students who are interested in earning dual credits are encouraged to consider this excellent opportunity for both personal and academic growth.
Course Details:
Prerequisite: ELA 20-2 with a minimum mark of 60%
Credits: 3 college credits + 3 high school credits (HCA 3401)
Lecture: 40 hours, completed asynchronously
Lab: 6 hours, completed in person on Saturday, November 28 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Camrose
If your student is interested in exploring a career in health care—or simply wants to gain valuable skills and earn post-secondary credits while still in high school—this is a great opportunity to consider!
