Mill Valley Weekly
October 10th, 2024

Hello Mill Valley Families,
What a fun week of activities we've had! Our spirit was shining bright throughout the week, with students and staff participating in the themed spirit days. Friday's Packer Camp was a blast for our 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders. And we ended our Read-a-thon with a fun Field Day and Closing Ceremony where we announced our Top Fundraisers and Gold Medal Winners!
We look forward to sharing academic feedback with families during parent teacher conferences next week. If you haven't had a chance to sign up, please do so. HERE is the link for your convenience.

P.S. Monday, 10/14, is a staff development day. Enjoy the long weekend ahead!

At Mill Valley, we strive to create an atmosphere in our school that is safe and conducive to learning. Bullying is a problem for everybody and everybody needs to help work on it. One way is by accepting differences and not being mean. Being Kind is one of our Behavior Expectations and is actively taught throughout the building. We also have bully prevention lessons through our Second Step curriculum that teaches how to recognize bullying, report bullying, refuse bullying, and the power of the bystander in helping to stop bullying.

Phy Ed News
2nd, 3rd & 4th Grade
It has been a great start to the school year! We started off with some team building activities, while practicing locomotor skills. Our first official unit was four-square. This is a game a lot of students choose to do at recess. We started with volleying the ball back and forth, then built into playing against a partner, and finishing with full four-square games. During this unit students learned volleying, underhand striking, sportsmanship skills, and problem solving.
Our next and current unit is football! In class we have been learning overhand throwing, catching, and running routes. Students have been able to practice respect and sportsmanship during our activities. We were fortunate enough to have the Play 60 Packer camp at Mill Valley this year. This is something we only get to have every three years. Students had a blast participating in the stations, include throwing, catching, running over obstacles, and leaping onto mats!
Kindergarten & 1st Grade
It has been fun getting to know our new Kindergartners! And of course seeing your 1st graders again! We started the year learning how to keep our body safe while moving around the gym. After getting our daily routines down we now can get into fun spatial awareness games. Students have been enjoying learning our pirate game, cookie dough tag, and now tunnel tag!
2024-2025 Family Communication Plan
This year, classroom teachers will be teaching with two new resources! This will be an adjustment for staff, students, and parents/caregivers. We want to be sure to offer multiple opportunities to keep families engaged and learning alongside our staff and students.
Each month, there will be a short (less than 5 minutes) recorded presentation shared with you that answers a focus question. The videos will cover various curriculum topics. Please see the outline below. These videos will be linked in school newsletters and posted on the Muskego-Norway Teaching and Learning website.
If you have questions/topics you would like addressed, please submit them using the Google Form linked HERE.
