Week #13 at Obama Global Prep
Dear Barack Obama Global Prep Community,
Thank you for an amazing Harvest Week and an unforgettable Harvest Festival this past Friday! With more than half of our students participating, we had the time of our lives celebrating together and creating wonderful memories.
To every family, staff member, and community partner who volunteered, donated, or helped bring this event to life, thank you! Your generosity, time, and dedication made this celebration possible. We could not have done it without you.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your continued support and contributions to our school community. You help make Obama Global Prep a place where our students feel connected, supported, and celebrated!
With heartfelt appreciation,
Principal Hoback

Student Success
As we move into our third month of school, we ask for your partnership in strengthening four important habits that will support our students’ academic success throughout the remainder of the semester:
Students must attend school every day. We can not teach to an empty seat. When students miss instruction they fall further and further behind. This is a disadvantage to your students' success.
Read for 30 minutes every day. All students should participate in Obama Reads daily. After reading, students should write a one-paragraph summary of what they read. Parents and guardians, please review and sign your child’s reading log.
Complete four i-Ready lessons each week. Students should complete two math lessons and two English language arts lessons, earning 80% or higher on each lesson. Encourage your child to take their time, use the feedback, and ask for help when needed. These lessons provide practice that strengthens skills students need for classroom learning and the Smarter Balanced assessments (SBAC).
Complete all homework daily. Please check that your child completes and submits assignments in every class. Encourage them to seek help from their teachers or attend tutoring when they need additional support.
We cannot do this work alone—we need your help! Setting aside a consistent time for reading, i-Ready, and homework can make a meaningful difference. If your child needs access to a device, internet, or additional assistance, please contact the school so we can work together on a plan.
Thank you for your continued partnership in helping our scholars shine bright and achieve greatness!
NEED ACADEMIC HELP!!!!
Tutoring
If your student is struggling in English or math, please ensure they attend tutoring on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, or participate in Saturday intervention. These programs provide additional support to strengthen skills, complete assignments, and improve academic progress.
An application is required for all programs. Please stop by the main office to pick up and complete an application.
Thank you for partnering with us to ensure your student receives the support they need to succeed!

School Safety
School Safety - Traffic
Your help with an urgent safety concern still remains.
Some students are being dropped off on the opposite side of the street and crossing to reach campus.
Please use the valet drop-off area and do not have your student cross the street to reach school. Set aside an extra 5 to 10 minutes, follow the directions of staff, and be patient with other families. We know mornings are busy, but taking this time helps protect every student. This is a matter of safety.
Thank you for working with us to keep our scholars safe.
Attendance Matters
Attendance Expectations
Regular attendance is crucial for student success. We aim for all students and staff to have an attendance rate of 96%.
Students must arrive at school and be in class at 7:50 am.
When students are absent, they are expected to return to school with a note explaining their absence.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding attendance, please contact our Attendance Counselor at (323) 421-1700.
