Mill Valley Weekly
January 9th, 2024
Hello Mill Valley Families,
Brrrrr...it's finally feeling like winter out there! We appreciate you sending your students to school with all of the essential items to keep them warm. Students have two 15 minute recesses outside unless the windchill is below zero. Even when there is no snow on the ground, we encourage students to wear their snow pants for warmth.
Many jackets, snow pants, hats and gloves look alike, so please be sure to label them with your student's name
Sincerely,
Allyce & Julie

One Book, One School (OBOS) ~ Because of the Rabbit
Shhhhhhhhh! Title revealed to students January 16th!
Starting January 20th, Mill Valley students and staff will all engage in reading Because of the Rabbit. Students will read the book outside of the school day with their families, while teachers will do activities to help students understand and develop positive friendships and integrity. Please keep the title of the book unknown to the students until January 16th. Look for the books and bookmarks to come home with your student(s) on January 16th.
Thank you in advance for participating to build integrity in our school and bring us all together!
Special THANK YOU to the PTO for funding the purchase of the books.

Upcoming Friendship Parties 2/14
As you know, we have transitioned away from using edible treats for birthdays school-wide. With Valentine’s Day approaching, we want to remind everyone that this will also apply to Valentine’s Day celebrations. Food-based items are not allowed for the Valentine exchange. There are many non-food based options such as bouncy balls, glow sticks, slime, etc. Any edible treats brought to school will be sent back home. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
You will receive more specific communication from your child(ren)'s teacher.
2024-2025 Family Communication Plan
This year, classroom teachers will be teaching with two new resources! This will be an adjustment for staff, students, and parents/caregivers. We want to be sure to offer multiple opportunities to keep families engaged and learning alongside our staff and students.
Each month, there will be a short recorded presentation shared with you that answers a focus question. The videos will cover various curriculum topics. Please see the outline below. These videos will be linked in school newsletters and posted on the Muskego-Norway Teaching and Learning website.
The December topic focuses on literacy instruction, including strategies and ideas for supporting literacy development at home.
