The BCOE Educational Technology Exchange is OPEN!!! 🎉

It’s official! The BCOE Educational Technology Exchange is open and ready for reservations! As previously stated, this is a “soft opening” with a small handful of devices to start. We will continue to add further devices as the days and weeks of Autumn roll on.

Currently, you will find the following: Ozobot Bits, PocketLab Airs, SWIVLS, Bee-Bots, and tech-themed books. Up next on the docket, we will have Osmo Preschool Starter Kits, Breakout Edu sets, LabDisc GenSci kits, and a variety of Wonder Workshop (Dash and Dot) sets.

The Details:

  • If you already have an account in Cheqroom, you’re good to go! Log in to your account and make a reservation as usual. Be sure to read each item’s description for all pertinent details.
  • If you do not yet have an account in Cheqroom, visit bit.ly/CRinvite and fill out the short form you find there. We will reply with an account invitation ASAP. Do not attempt to create your own ID with Cheqroom, it will not work. You must get an account invitation from BCOE.
  • Curious what some of our new and upcoming devices will be? Check out the slideshow at bit.ly/edtech-exchange and start browsing!
  • Want an easy-to-read and printable sheet with all reservation/location/check-out/check-in details? Go to bit.ly/edtech-exchange-faq.
  • And as always, feel free to reach out with any additional questions not already addressed above!

Remember to share this information at your staff meetings and with any interested parties working in Butte County public schools! We’re here to help!

National Techies Day

Did you know that October 3rd is National Techies Day? It was coined in 1999 as "a celebration to bring to light the many opportunities youngsters can take advantage of in the technology industry." We've come a long way in the last 23 years, and we continue to go farther and faster now!

Take a moment to thank all your "techies" whose behind-the-scenes work allow your programs to continue staying up-to-date with the slew of changes happening daily! And of course, encourage your tech-motivated students to draw upon their passions -- this field is only going to get bigger!

Use #ButteCOE to Connect!

What is the purpose of a hashtag? Is it just a fun way to add some flair? No! A hashtag is used within a message to identify a keyword or topic of interest and facilitate a search for it. Whenever a user adds a hashtag to their post, it is able to be indexed and becomes discoverable by other users on the platform.

How can you use hashtags to help connect to others within your district? To start, your area needs an agreed-upon, not-already-used hashtag. For example, Paradise Unified uses #PUSDk12 for each of their schools to connect to. Within a tweet, any PUSD teacher, classroom, or school, can add #PUSDk12 to their post, making it easily visible to any parent or community member who wants to know more about the goings-on at Paradise Unified! One-stop shop!

All Butte County teachers, administrators, and staff are welcome and encouraged to post what's happening at their school site using the #ButteCOE hashtag on all social media platforms! This is most helpful when connecting on Twitter or Instagram!
