Principal's Corner
Dear Hirsch Hawk Families,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Report cards went home on Friday, so please be sure to check your child’s backpack and review their progress. We are working hard to ensure every student meets their learning goals and is fully prepared for the next grade level. Your partnership is essential in making this happen!
To continue supporting your child at home, we encourage you to make reading a daily habit. Even 15-20 minutes of reading each night can make a big difference! Additionally, building number fluency is crucial at all grade levels:
- Primary Grades (K-2): Play simple math games like rolling dice and adding the numbers, counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s, or using flashcards to practice basic addition and subtraction facts.
- Intermediate Grades (3-5): Challenge your child with multiplication and division flashcards, play math fact war with a deck of cards, or have them solve real-world problems like calculating change at the store.
Next week, we are kicking off Camp Write-a-Lot, our fun and engaging countdown to STAAR! We want to transform our 3rd-5th grade halls and classrooms to match our camp theme, and we need your help. If you have time this week, please consider volunteering to help us decorate. Even an hour or two would make a big difference!
Also, don’t forget that Book Fair is happening this week! We will have extended hours on Thursday from 4:00-6:30 PM, so be sure to stop by and stock up on great books.
Thank you for your continued support—we appreciate you!
With gratitude,
Principal Patterson

Notable Hirsch Hawks
Shout out to the following students for representing Hirsch Elementary School!
Congratulations to our 5th grade students, who earned a special trip to the Downtown Aquarium for their performance on the Benchmark Interim Assessments. This is a practice STAAR test that all 3rd-5th graders took in February. The grade level with the most students at the Meets and Masters level earned a special field trip. We're so proud of our 5th graders!

Attendance Matters!
Attendance is so important for student success. Hirsch Elementary is committed to encouraging students to come to school everyday. Each grade level is participating in weekly and monthly attendance contests to see who has the highest attendance. Classes and grade levels with the highest attendance will get a reward! Everyday attendance equals everyday success. Thank you for partnering with us for your child's success.
