UPDATES
MATH MCAS
MCAS testing for Grade 10 students will continue next week with Math MCAS on Tuesday, May 19, and Wednesday, May 20. Tenth grade students should report to school by 8:10 AM with a charged Chromebook and report directly to their assigned testing room. Students in Grades 9 and 11 should report to school at 10:30 AM and proceed to the cafeteria before attending their scheduled classes. Bus students may arrive at the regular time and work in the cafeteria until testing concludes. The schedule for both testing days is attached.
FINAL EXAMS (9-11)
Final exams for grades 9-11 students begin on Thursday, June 18, and conclude on Wednesday, June 24.
During our final examination period, regular class sessions will be suspended. Students taking two exams in one day must arrive before 9:00 AM and remain in school until the conclusion of the second exam period at 1:30 PM. Students taking only one exam on any given day must arrive on time for that exam and may leave campus when the exam period is concluded. Lunch will be served in the cafeteria from 11:00-11:30 AM.
The last day of school, Thursday, June 25 is a half day (make-up day) for students and a full day for faculty. Lunch will not be served on this day. Buses will run on a regular schedule throughout final exams. Students wishing to wait for the bus after their second exam can do so in the cafeteria. If students do not need to make up exams, they do not need to report to school on Thursday, June 25.

FINAL EXAM GUIDELINES

Exams will be two hours in length.
Underclassmen Final Exam grades will be recorded in a separate column on the final report card and will constitute 10% of the final grade.
Students must remain in the testing classroom until the end of the exam period. Students are encouraged to bring reading or other school work in case they finish exams early. Students cannot get dismissed from an exam once it has begun.
A student who reports to school after 9:05 AM must report to the main office and will not be allowed into classrooms for testing without the permission of a teacher or administrator.

WALK TO SCHOOL DAY
COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY
The Rockland Day Committee is looking for student volunteers to assist with this year’s Rockland Day event on Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21. Volunteers are needed to help with event set-up and clean-up. This is a great opportunity for students to support the community while earning community service hours. The committee will sign any required community service forms for participating students. Please consider volunteering to help make this annual community event a success!
WEAR GREEN ON MAY 19 FOR MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH
In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, students and staff are encouraged to wear green on May 19 to show support for mental health awareness. This community-wide initiative is presented by the Town of Rockland in partnership with Rockland Recreation, Rockland Public Schools, the Council on Aging, Rockland Memorial Library, Veteran Services, and WRPS. We encourage everyone to participate and help promote awareness and support for mental health throughout our community.
PROM - MAY 22
On Prom Day - Friday, May 22 - student dismissals must be scheduled for 11:10 AM or later. Remaining in school until at least that time satisfies the Rockland Public Schools' requirement that students be present in order to participate in after-school events. To help our office prepare and streamline the dismissal process, we kindly ask that you submit either:
An email to rhsabsences@rocklandschools.org, or
A written dismissal note,
by Thursday, May 21.
Thank you for your cooperation. We look forward to a safe and enjoyable prom celebration for all!

FROM THE NURSE
As we recognize Mental Health Awareness Month this May, it’s important to remember that mental health is just as essential as physical health. High school students today face many pressures — academics, sports, social media, friendships, jobs, and planning for the future. Feeling stressed, overwhelmed, anxious, or sad at times is normal, but no one should feel they have to manage those feelings alone.
Taking care of your mental health can include simple daily habits: getting enough sleep, eating balanced meals, staying active, taking breaks from screens, and spending time with supportive friends and family. It’s also important to ask for help when needed. Speaking with a trusted adult, school counselor, nurse, teacher, or friend can make a big difference.
This month is also a reminder to show kindness and compassion to others. A small act of support or simply checking in with someone can have a powerful impact. We all play a role in creating a school community where students feel safe, respected, and supported.
If you or a loved one are in need of mental health crisis support, please text or call 988.
You are never alone, and help is always available.
