Hello Dayton Consolidated Families,

With spring just around the corner, it is a time of great anticipation. We are seeing longer days, warmer sun, and more peeks of grass- in between snow showers, of course! Students are in full gear preparing for their upcoming student-led conferences and social studies showcase on April 8th. That is always an exciting day for students as they have a chance to showcase some of the things they have been working hard on over the last several weeks.

We kicked off our Read-A-Thon last week. We participated in this a few years ago, and it was very successful and so much fun! We are thankful to the Dayton Community Club for all they do to raise funds to help us participate in extra events throughout the year (i.e., Glow Dance, Field Day, class Field Trips, Mariner's Game, etc.). All money raised will be used for student experiences.

I want to thank the MANY families who were able to rearrange your own schedules to join us at the Mariners' game last week. Our students did fantastic and your extra hands were a big help. These full school outings are always a time when I am able to reflect on what a truly spectacular community there is here.

We are hoping to see many of you at our PBIS family night on Wednesday, March 25th, where we will celebrate our school's core values through a variety of activities. There will also be vendor tables set up throughout the main building (for example, Animal Refuge League, Goodwins Mills Fire Department, etc.) The event runs from 6-7 p.m. and is for both students and their families. Wear your HOUSE shirt. The HOUSE with the greatest attendance will win a prize!

As always, please be sure to check out below for more upcoming events, tune in each week to our Thursday newsletter, and follow us on Facebook.

If at any time I may be of help, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Thank you for your continued partnership.

Sincerely,

Kim Sampietro, Principal

Spring Ahead with Bus Safety Spring Ahead with Bus Safety

As we welcome longer days in March, we are continuing our monthly focus on bus safety with a few timely reminders for families. Parents can help by ensuring students are ready at the bus stop about 10 minutes before pickup time, with backpacks organized and bags sized appropriately for safe boarding and clear aisles on the bus. Limiting loose items, long straps, and oversized bags helps prevent tripping or items getting caught in doors. Even with more daylight, staying alert, following driver signals, and practicing calm, respectful behavior at the bus stop and on the bus remain essential to keeping every ride safe.
