Cheney Middle School
Library Services
Mission
The CMS Library strives to help every student develop a love of reading, become a skilled user of ideas and information and explore the world through print and electronic media. The acquisition and maintenance of the CMS library collection supporting grade-level curriculums as well as independent reading is ongoing, with input from staff and students. New acquisitions are purchased throughout the year to support student interests, Common Core Standards, College and Career Readiness, and classroom curriculum.

Collaborative Planning & Requesting Library Resources for Classroom Use
• Toni would love to meet with you or your team to plan instructional resources including print or online reference sources. She is here to offer instruction and support. Let's collaborate! Let's design a project together!
• Please make your request (e.g. book cart for classroom use) as far in advance as possible, so we can avoid the disappointment of not having what you need when you need it.
• If possible, provide Toni with a copy or detailed explanation of the project you need materials for. The better she understands what you wish your students to accomplish, the better she can help find materials to meet you and your students’ needs.

Library Expectations
• Students must have library accounts in good standing to check out library books.
• Please assist Deb, Glenda and Toni by reinforcing behavior expectations while your class is in the library. If your class will be accompanied to the library by a substitute or student teacher, make sure that he/she understands these expectations and will provide support to the class during their time in the library.
• Students not accompanied by a teacher must create an eHallPass when visiting the library.
Libraries allow children to ask questions about the world and find the answers. And the wonderful thing is that once a child learns to use a library, the doors to learning are always open.
Did you know...the following items are available for check out in the library?
