Bears of Bryan Middle – Focus on Academic Success

As we near the end of February, it’s a great time to reflect on academic progress and set goals for the rest of the school year. At Bryan Middle, we believe that success starts with strong partnerships between students, teachers, and families. One of the most impactful ways parents can support their students is by staying informed and engaged in their academic journey.

Monitor Grades Regularly

Grades provide valuable insight into your student’s progress, strengths, and areas for improvement. We encourage parents to check grades regularly using the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. If you need help accessing the system, please reach out to the school. By reviewing grades together, families can celebrate achievements and address challenges before they become overwhelming.

Have Daily Conversations About Success

Beyond checking grades, ongoing conversations about learning and effort are essential. Each evening, take a few minutes to ask your student:

  • What did you learn today?
  • What was something you found challenging?
  • Did you complete all of your assignments?
  • How can I support you with your schoolwork?

These simple questions help reinforce the importance of education, encourage responsibility, and build a strong habit of self-reflection.

Support for Students

If your student is struggling, we have several ways to provide support:

  • After-school tutoring and Academic Recovery – A great opportunity to complete missing work with teacher support.
  • SuccessMaker & Online Resources – Students can improve skills in math and reading at home.
  • Teacher Communication – Encourage your student to advocate for themselves by reaching out to teachers when they need help.

As we continue through the second semester, let’s work together to ensure every student at Bryan Middle is on the path to success. If you have any questions or need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for being an active partner in your child’s education!

Best,
Mr. Karmazin
Principal, Bryan Middle School

6th Grade Chorus Performing at the Holland on March 6th 6th Grade Chorus Performing at the Holland on March 6th

6th Grade Chorus Members have been reinforcing music literacy by playing their recorders in the classroom. They have been working on several jazz/swing pieces in order to prepare for their upcoming performance at the Holland Performing Arts Center on Thursday, March 6th. Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, George Gershwin and Florence Price have all been composers of interest for us, as we learn about the African American influence of Jazz and the American Experience. Help them by encouraging them to practice at home or tell you what they have been learning about Jazz music! Keep an eye out for your student's permission slip so they can perform at the Holland!
