I am so excited to be at LISD as the VPE Campus Principal for the 26-27 school year. I know that this school year is going to be just as amazing as it was last year at VPE. I love seeing your child (ren) every morning during morning announcements. During this time the students remind me everyday the VPE expectation of being RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, and READY for SUCCESS. I have had the opportunity in my education career to work as a school Superintendent at a neighboring district for many years. I was reminded this past year at Velma Penny that my happy place has always been working with children and teachers and I am blessed to be a part of this great community and the staff at VPE.

I, along with the outstanding teachers and staff at VPE, have been working hard for the arrival of your child(ren)! We are so excited to begin the new 26-27 school year! Our goal at VPE is to instill a love of learning in each of our students to help them be the best they can be and positively impact the world around them. We believe partnering with parents is essential in order to accomplish this goal. Please check your email and your child's folder daily as that is our main form of communication. Also, the newsletter contains important dates and reminders throughout the year. So, be sure to check it out each month!

Pre Ordered School Supplies:

If you preordered school supply packs at the end of the 25-26 school year, those will be in your homeroom teacher's classroom on Meet the Teacher night!

SCHOOL SUPPLIES - You are encouraged to have your child take their school supplies to their classrooms at Meet the Teacher!

MEDICATIONS / MEDICAL NEEDS - Katie Willcox, our new school nurse, will be at Meet the Teacher. She is so excited to meet you and your student. She will set up outside the nurse's office and be available for questions or to discuss any health concerns. This is also a wonderful opportunity to turn in medications that will be taken at school. There is a school form that will need to be filled out and signed by you and your student's physician. All medication (prescription and over the counter) MUST be in original container and not expired. Prescriptions must have correct and current pharmacy label.

If your child has any chronic health concerns (examples: diabetes, severe allergies, asthma). Please make sure to come by her table to meet her and grab some important info.

Online registration is now open. Please login through Skyward and complete your registration as soon as possible.

Afternoon Pick Up Procedures

• Early car riders: 2:55 (for those already in line)
• Official dismissal: 3:05
• Track side car line: This line will close early due to buses. If you arrive after buses have arrived, please go to front car line. All students will be moved there.

This year's school theme will focus on our students knowing that "Every Move Counts." The students will learn that in all situations at school they will want to make their every move count. Learning moves that are strategic and thoughtful when it comes to academics, behaviors, communication, and more. We will begin the year (and every morning) reminding the students that three of the greatest moves that will be a game changer for them will being RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE and READY for SUCCESS. Thank you for reinforcing these game changing expectations, also.
