Deferment
Some students may choose to defer college for missionary or military service. In order to have the best chance for admissions and scholarships, students should apply for college as if they are planning to attend in the fall, meeting Fall 2026 admission and scholarship deadlines. Students can then choose to defer scholarships and admission with the college of their choice. Doing this will secure a spot upon their return and hold any scholarships they receive. Because each college handles deferment a bit differently, it is best to check directly with them to find out what steps need to be taken. Below is a direct link to each Utah college’s deferment information.
