Recognition of King Chavez Scholars Program for All Means All award

Over the past few years, the UW–Whitewater King Chavez Scholars Program has partnered with Lincoln Elementary's second graders. Throughout the year, they become pen pals and learn about their buddies. During the first semester, Whitewater College students and staff visit Lincoln for the day. While there, they participate in academic activities, connect through games and projects, and learn about one another. At the end of the year, the second-grade students visit their big buddies at the university to see how the students live, learn, and eat. The students always enjoy having lunch in the college cafeteria.

We greatly appreciate the partnership between UW–Whitewater and Lincoln Elementary!

Cari Venzke

Recognition of All-Star Staff of the Month for December

Megan Gleisner -

Megan is a superstar school psychologist who performs like a seasoned veteran despite being early in her professional career. She not only conducts thorough student evaluations, but also responds to students in distress to help calm them and meets with individual students or small groups weekly to build their social-emotional skills. Significantly, Megan helped unify and revamp our district's EMLSS process by creating easy-to-complete forms and training colleagues on the procedure. Our students and staff have learned important strategies from Megan. She is a difference-maker in everything she does!

Cari Venzke -

Cari is currently serving as the interim Food Services Director and has stepped up to the challenge. Not only is she serving as a supervisor, but she is also going above and beyond every day as a cook in the kitchen. She has refocused the district on ensuring safe and effective food-service and handling practices while also working collaboratively with current staff to create more effective and efficient ways of doing business. As the district prepared for its first Discovery Day, Cari was contacted at the last minute about attending the event and providing snacks and milk for future Whippet students and families. Without hesitation, Cari jumped right in — she ordered snacks and milk and prepared to support future families that day. Her collaborative spirit and dedication to staff, students, and the future of the district are truly commendable.

Don Henze (not photographed) -

Don is the head custodian at Lincoln and is also part of the snow‑removal team. Don has done a great job transitioning into the role of head custodian over the past 2.5 years. The staff at Lincoln appreciate Don’s pleasant demeanor and his willingness to help.

Recognition of Published Southern Lakes Anthology Pieces and Students

The Board recognized the outstanding work these students did and the amazing pieces they submitted to the Southern Lakes Anthology. Some students read their pieces aloud, and they were fantastic. They are all such talented writers, and the Whitewater Unified School District couldn't be more proud of them.
