Heading into a New Year! Heading into a New Year!

Now's the time to read!

December is the best time to check out books to take home...starting this week, all books that are checked out aren't due until NEXT YEAR...January 2, 2025. We know the year has been busy and school work has gotten busy, but the secret to happiness is a little book in your pocket that you can pull out for some me time. We hope to see you soon! Read below to find some collections to check out!

NEW ARRIVALS! NEW ARRIVALS!

zoom_out_map

We continue to be in a tricky situation with ordering this year. Our book ordering contracts expired, and we are currently waiting for the DOE legal team to approve new contracts. This means that all those books you requested are patiently sitting in a shopping cart waiting to for the go ahead. In the meantime, make sure you know how to access our eBooks on Sora, on Libby, or come and visit our New Arrivals section.

We also have a HUGE selection of books which were recently weeded (taken out of circulation to make room for new books), so please come and visit us to give these books a forever home.

Winter Reads

Whether you like reading about the holidays or being cozy in the warmth, we've put together a whole collection of books with which you can hibernate. Holiday romances? Diary of a Wimpy Kid? Just books about cold weather? Nordic murder mysteries? You get the idea, we have them all!

Self-Care

Cookbooks, wellness books, crystals, and energy, winter is a great time to think about YOU and how to take care of YOU! Come visit our self-care display. Just follow the smell of lemongrass to our oil diffuser and browse our collection. You can even try out our Avoaa meditation board - learn the art of letting go by writing on this special surface with water.

WATER

Speaking of water, NYC is officially in a drought. Read about the water cycle, the politics of water, and climate change. You'll know this display by the random collection of water bottles located on the shelf top. Your librarian collects all the water bottles you leave behind to water the plants so that no water is wasted!

Read Palestine Week

The #ReadPalestine physical and Sora collection are live. Read titles from Palestinian authors or learn about the country and its people. These titles are going fast so grab them while you can!

The Best of 2024

We did a countdown of the top 10 book checkouts of 2024, but of course they were so popular that many of them have gone - so we're adding more to the display. There are also some great reads here: NYPL's Best Books for Teens in 2024!

Winter Reading Tracker

That was a lot of books! How to keep track of them all? A winter tracker! Part coloring page, part record keeper, pick one up while you're here so you can keep track of all the amazing reading you're doing this winter!

NEW GAMES! NEW GAMES!

Did you know that the library has board games? Thanks to a recent promotion with @things.i.bought.and.liked, we were able to clear our Amazon wishlist. Games are a great way to interact with your peers, get off technology, and yes...read! Who knew the games with the hardest instructions could be the most rewarding. 😉

Puzzled? Puzzled?

We have a new puzzle mat which helps us to collectively work on puzzles. Our latest puzzle is a Whodunnit called "Grounds for Murder." Read the accompanying story to get clues on what the final image is, and then put the puzzle together to solve the mystery! 1000 pieces is no challenge for a campus, right?

SPARKSPACE SPARKSPACE

Coming up in the new year, we will be building out our new Makerspace - SPARKSPACE! Please be patient with us as we go through a living renovation. We will be phasing out our desktop computers and transitioning to Chromebooks, and printing may temporarily be unavailable. But stay tuned for our launch next semester!
