Message from Principal and Assistant Principal

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is on Tuesday next week and is always an exciting time in elementary school. Your grade-level teacher would have communicated by now if there are classroom happenings connected with Valentine's card exchanges. We want to remind our families, per district wellness policy, there is no food allowed to come in with your child, even if food is bagged it is not permitted. Anything with latex is also not allowed in our building. If your child's class is exchanging cards and you do wish to attach something, the types of items permitted with cards are non-food latex free items such as pencils, stickers, erasers, etc.

Gentle Reminder Online Ordering for Breakfast

A gentle reminder our food nutrition is moving to online ordering for our breakfast allotment for students. Eating a daily breakfast is an important part of learning and is offered at no cost to students. However our food nutrition department does need to properly prepare for monthly breakfast quantities and is asking all parents to register for breakfast online who would like their child to receive breakfast. If you need more information or guidance on how to do online ordering please email Nancy Antolini at antolinin@chelmsford.k12.ma.us.

Reminder MCAS Schedule

While the MCAS assessment is a few months away, we did want you to have our testing dates in advance. Students being present on these days is important for our MCAS participation As these dates draw nearer, we will provide additional information.

Substitutes Needed

Byam is in need of substitute teachers and paraprofessionals. This employment opportunity has flexible days/hours and is a great way to match students' schedules. Dear Parents...

We are humbly asking parents to consider volunteering for one small event each year, even if it is only for 30 minutes. We are noticing that the same parents are assisting over and over, and they are getting burnt out. We fear that some events may suffer because of this, and we are hoping that maybe people will hear this plea and be willing to donate just a small bit of their time. If your child is attending an event, please consider keeping an eye out for future sign-up forms. Many responsible 3rd and 4th graders love helping too, and with parental supervision they can be a huge asset to our BSA!! Thank you all!!! The calendar says it's winter, but we are thinking of spring! Get your friends together bring the kids to the Red Sox game on May 31st! Seats are located in the Grandstand! Tickets are $40 each.

We still have some tickets available, so we are opening up tickets to anyone who would like to bring additional family members to this event! Ticket sales will close when the events reach capacity.

We often hear, "I want to get involved but I don't know how"...here are a few roles we are looking to fill as we have parents moving to middle school, and just to spread the workload a bit. Feel overwhelmed because you don't know what you are doing? Have no fear! There are currently chairs in place to teach you the ropes and "ease" you into it.
