The Weekly Buzz
From Palmer River Elementary School
April 10, 2026
Dear PRES Community,
It has been so nice to finally enjoy some warmer spring weather, and our students have loved having the chance to get outside and enjoy the sunshine during recess. The arrival of spring always brings a renewed sense of energy to our building, and it has been wonderful to see that joy reflected throughout our classrooms and school community.
It is hard to believe that April vacation is just around the corner! With only five school days remaining before the break, we are looking forward to a strong finish next week filled with learning, growth, and all of the exciting moments that make this time of year so special. Our students continue to work hard each day, and we are so proud of their efforts and accomplishments.
We hope all of our PRES families enjoy a relaxing and restful weekend. Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kristine Kefor, Principal and Mrs. Cassey Monte, Assistant Principal

🩺 The Buzz from Nurse Elizabeth 🩺
Hello Parents and Guardians!
Spring is finally here, and while we love seeing the flowers bloom and enjoying the warmer weather, it also means that seasonal allergies may start bothering some of our students. We want to make sure your child feels comfortable and can focus on learning during the school day. Here are a few tips to help manage those pesky allergies and keep the school experience enjoyable for everyone!
What Are Seasonal Allergies?
Seasonal allergies are caused by the immune system overreacting to pollen from trees, grass, and weeds. Common symptoms include:
Sneezing
Runny or stuffy nose
Itchy, watery eyes
Coughing or throat irritation
Fatigue from poor sleep
How You Can Help
Speak with your child’s healthcare provider
Ask about safe allergy medications and whether daily use during peak allergy seasons might help.Update the nurse
If your child takes allergy medication during the school day, please bring in a Medication Authorization Form signed by you and your child’s doctor. We can store and administer medication here in the health office. Medication must be brought in by a parent or guardian, not the student.FYI- Many antihistamines, like Zyrtec and Claritin, take a few hours to reach peak effectiveness. Giving them at night helps control morning symptoms like sneezing, watery eyes, and coughing
Encourage good hygiene
Remind your child to wash their hands and face after playing outside to remove pollen.
When to Keep Your Child Home
If symptoms are accompanied by fever, persistent cough, or sore throat, it might be more than just allergies. Please monitor symptoms and consult your pediatrician when in doubt. If you have any questions or concerns about seasonal allergies, feel free to contact me.
Wishing you a healthy, happy spring!
