Working together; Succeeding Together
Land Aknowledgement
As Treaty People, we honour the lands of Treaties 4, 5, and 6, the traditional territories of the Cree, Dene, Nakota, Dakota, Saulteaux, and Ojibway peoples, and the homeland of the Métis.
With harvest complete and winter approaching, we give thanks for the land’s abundance and the food that will sustain our communities through the colder months. As the fields enter a season of rest, we are reminded of our responsibility to care for the soil, water, and living things that make these gifts possible.
This land has offered generations of families safety, opportunity, and belonging. We recognize that these opportunities have not been shared equally, and we acknowledge the lasting harms of colonialism and residential schools on Indigenous peoples, families, and communities.
As the days grow shorter and we gather for warmth, learning, and connection, we commit to listening to Indigenous voices, deepening our understanding of our shared history, and putting reconciliation into practice through our words and actions. May this season remind us to care for one another, share what we have, and work toward a future in which everyone belongs.
CLUE CHALLENGE STARTS MONDAY
Thank You to The Book Fair Crew
We took in $3,218.75 at our Book Fair this year. Thank you to Mrs. Binkley and her crew for all of the hard work they put into getting everything ready. It looked amazing and was an incredible amount of work. Many hours were put in after hours. The theme was Minecraft and there was a lot of crafting that went on. Thank you to Mrs. Binkley and her crew for being flexible as we had to move the book fair to the conference room this year. They still made it awesome. Special thanks to Jill and Ella who worked the book fair both nights of 3-Way Conferences.
Bear Bites Makes Lefse
Lefse is a soft, thin Norwegian flatbread, usually made with potatoes, flour, and butter. It looks a bit like a tortilla but has a tender texture and a mild, slightly buttery flavour. You can spread it with butter and sugar and roll it up for a sweet treat, or serve it alongside savoury foods like meatballs.
Last Wednesday, Carol Thomasgard lent her lefse expertise to the Bear Bites crew. We started at 11:00am and finished at just after 3:00pm with just over 300 lefse being made. Thank you to Carol for sharing your wisdom and to Amerikka for sharing her Gramma with us. It was a lot of fun and a lot of work. On Thursday we had just over 60 orders of lefse with Swedish Meatballs and Dilly Cucumber Salad.
One the weekend we sold over 50 at the Jr. Girls Volleyball tournament on the weekend, and it was a hit with homemade Texas Roadhouse Butter (courtesy of Amerikka).
Gym Supervision
The gym is one of the high risk areas of the school. For this reason, supervision is required at all times. At no time are students permitted to be in the gym before or after school without explicit permission from a staff member.
Sr. Girls Volleyball
Tournament Team
The tournament team took the wekeend off to help out at the Jr. Girls tournament this weekend.
League Team
The Sr. Girls League team travelled to Hudson Bay for Pod Playoffs on Thursday. They, unfortunately, lost out to Hudson Bay, which brings their season to a close for the year. Thank you to Mrs. Lechler for coaching the team this year and to the girls for an amazing season.
Jr. Girls Volleyball
The Jr. Girls hosted a very successful tournament this weekend. We had lots of compliments on everything from the level of play, to the food, to the people. Just as importantly, both teams brought home first place. I told the girls this worked out well because the plaques that Mr. Riley makes are far to nice to send to other schools. Way to go Bears!!! Huge thanks to Miss Wallen and Miss Whitney for all of their work and to our volunteers, without you, we cannot host these events. Thanks to all of the parents who brought food, it is always delicious. Thank you to the students who volunteered as part of their wellness hours and especially to Landin M, who volunteered just because. Landin finished all of his hours at the Sr. Girls tournament earlier this year. Thank you as well to Lexi and Amerikka who help out with coaching and to all of the youth refs for weekend. Lastly, thanks to all of the fans who came out and cheered on the Bears!

Bear Bucks is Updated (Finally)
We have made some changes to help us streamline the system. We have consolidated all Bear Bucks accounts into family groups. Your new account number will be the first three letters of your last name followed by your phone number (i.e. Sam Jones Phone Number 555 1212 would be Jon1212). This was we do not have to update several accounts and do not have to update account numbers yearly.
I apologize for the delay, updating Bear Bucks is very time consuming. We have, hopefully built some things into the back end that will allow it to be less labor intensive. We appreciate you understanding.
If you feel that you total is not correct (especially if you added money, late last year), contact the school and we will make it right.
As always, we thank you for you continued support of our program.
