PRO: Perseverance, Respect, Ownership May 2026
From the Principal’s Desk
I am absolutely thrilled and honored to have been officially named the Principal of Turner Middle School. Turner has built a fantastic foundation and I am eager to continue the great work that started long before I even arrived.
I know that a school is only as strong as the community surrounding it. One of my primary goals this coming year is to strengthen the bridge between our classrooms and your front doors.
Why Your Voice Matters
Excellence in education isn't a solo act—it's a partnership. To ensure our students thrive academically and socially, I am committed to:
Open Communication: Keeping you informed, heard, and valued.
Community Connection: Ensuring our "student-family-school" bond is the strongest it's ever been.
I am a firm believer that when we work together, there is no limit to what our students can achieve. I look forward to hearing your insights for the future of Turner Middle School. Please feel free to reach out via email or through our upcoming community surveys as we continue this journey together.
It's a Great Day to be a Dragon!

Meet our new SRO - Megan Job!
Hello Turner Middle School staff, families, and community members,
My name is Deputy Megan Job, and I am honored to introduce myself as the new School Resource Officer at Turner Middle School. I have been with the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office for over eight years, beginning my career in the jail, where I developed strong communication skills and a passion for helping individuals in need.
During that time, I began thinking about how I could better serve my community, and becoming a School Resource Officer was one of my long-term goals. I believe that the time students spend in school is critical for learning values, making positive choices, and building a strong foundation for their future.
My goal as an SRO is to support students and families by serving as a positive mentor and role model. As a mother of two boys who faced challenges in school—including bullying and behavioral struggles—I understand firsthand how difficult it can be for both students and parents. I remember receiving those calls from the school and feeling unsure of how to best support my children. Those experiences are a big part of what inspired me to take on this role. I want to help make a difference for students and provide support and guidance to their families.
I am truly excited to be part of the Turner Middle School community and look forward to building positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
Deputy Megan Job

TMS Counseling Department Notes & News
During CMAS testing, some of our time in PRO was spent working on mindfulness. Now, in PRO, we are voting on Kindness Awards, doing our last Xello lesson about preparing for high school and beyond, and wrapping up Character Strong lessons for the year.
If your child is moving on to BHS next year, their school counselors are Stevie Fowler (last names A-I), Michelle Koons (last names J-M and GT students), and Jordan Jennings (Last names N-Z). We wish them all the best as they transition to high school! We’ve enjoyed working with the class of 2030.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. The mental well-being of Colorado’s youth is a priority, and speaking to a therapist can be the difference between good mental health and stress, anger, and sadness. I Matter offers free therapy sessions to all Colorado youth.
I Matter makes it easier for Colorado’s youth to get the support they need. It was created in 2021 by the state of Colorado and offers up to six FREE therapy sessions with a licensed therapist. It’s for anyone 18 or younger, or 21 and younger if receiving special education services. With I Matter, you don't need insurance or to prove legal status to join. I Matter provides services in English and Spanish. Best of all, signing up is easy! You can complete the 10-minute online survey at IMatterColorado.org or YoImportoColorado.org and then choose from a list of therapists, decide if your child prefers in-person or online sessions, and review short profiles about each therapist to find the right one.
In Literacy News:
In Literacy, students are finishing out our unit - Living with Technology. Students have been using the modes of persuasion to create advertisements and argumentative writing, which will soon be wrapped up with debates!
In Social Studies News:
In Social Studies, we are working on our Mini-Society unit! Students are learning about economics, forms of government, and real-world skills like budgeting and taxes. They will create their own products and sell them at our Market Day at the end of the year! A few reminders: students should NOT begin working on their products yet - they must first submit a patent for their product and get it approved. They also do not need to buy anything for their products - recycled materials are completely fine!
In Math News:
6th grade math students will be working with statistics. There are so many real world applications to data analysis and displays, like sports, businesses, and comparison shopping! Students are finding the mean, median, mode and range of a data set, as well as constructing histograms, box plots, and stem-and-leaf plots.
The Math Focus classes have been working on creating a carnival game for our 6th grade Math Carnival they are throwing later this month. The purpose of this project is to gather data and to use this to create multiple data representations on their culminating project. A huge thanks to all of the parents who have supported their students’ projects at home!
In Science News:
We are now diving into human impacts and natural resources. We will conclude the year with energy transfer and apply that knowledge to Solar Ovens and Rocket Launch. Please help your scientist with materials such as two 2 liter bottles (Rocket Launch), pizza or shoe box (for Solar Ovens), duct tape, aluminum foil, saran wrap and different colors of construction paper. Solar Oven Testing starts on April 15th and Rocket Launch dates: May 12/13.
As we approach the close of another school year, the Seventh grade team wanted to take a moment to reflect with gratitude on everything the staff and students have accomplished together.
This year has been filled with growth, learning, laughter, and unforgettable memories. From the first day of school, when the students were unsure of what this year had in store for them, to the final projects, papers, and classroom discussions. Our classrooms have been a place of curiosity, creativity, and connection. Each student has brought something unique and special, and it’s been a joy to watch them learn, grow, and support one another along the way.
None of this would have been possible without our supportive community. Whether you helped with homework, volunteered your time, attended events, or simply cheered your child on each and every day, your involvement has made a tremendous difference. It truly takes a village, and we are grateful to be part of one that is so caring and committed to our students’ success.
As we head into summer, I encourage you to take time to rest, recharge, and enjoy some family time. Thank you once again for your trust, partnership, and support this year. We are proud of all that we’ve accomplished together, and I look forward to what lies ahead of each and everyone of your students.
Educationally,
The 7th Grade Team

All 8th graders will need to take their chromebook home for the summer
When they get their new chromebook in 9th grade, they will need to have their old chromebook to turn in.
A new Freshman not having a chromebook to turn in presents a challenge for the high schools and possible fines for the student.
Also students will need their power adapter as they will not be getting a new power adapter with their new chromebook.

School Attendance Matters!
As we continue to foster a productive learning environment, we want to emphasize the importance of being on time to school ready to learn each day.
Students are expected to be in their seats by 8:50 AM each morning, and 9:50 AM on Wednesdays. Arriving on time helps ensure that all students can fully engage in their lessons and start their day positively.
As a reminder breakfast doors open at 8:30, 9:30 on Wednesdays. The bell rings to let students in at 8:45, 9:45 on Wednesday.
Your support in reinforcing this and setting your student up with good routines is valued!
Absence reporting
1. You can call the attendance line at 970-613-7490 and leave us a message.
2. Notify us of planned absences directly through the portal, ensuring a seamless and efficient communication process.

TMS PTO
TMS parent teacher organization (PTO) meets at Turner Middle School.
Please feel free to join them for the next meeting on Friday, May 1 at 9:00am.
See TMS Website for contact information.
Where Does My Water Go?
While some pollutants are removed during wastewater treatment, rain and snowmelt can wash oil, fertilizers, pet waste, and trash into storm drains. This untreated water flows directly into local streams, harming aquatic life. Keep it clean — only rain down the drain!
NOCO Emergency Alert
Larimer County Fire Departments have asked us to share this information. This emergency alert will alert those who sign up for it with emergency notifications from Larimer county. Please text NOCOALERT to 888777.
Safety Drills
TMS practices emergency safety drills on a continuous basis throughout the year. The type of drill we practice and discuss with students is rotated. We help students to become familiar with the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) which outline 5 situations and the actions that both the students and the adults do during an emergency.
TSD Implements System to Support Students Online
I.T.S. offers software to help manage your student's device at home, whether they use an iPad or Chromebook. While we hope these tools are helpful, no filter or device restriction is perfect, and we encourage you to use other network management tools, such as parental controls built into your home router, if necessary.
Securly is a powerful safety tool that works in the background on all district-issued devices. It helps ensure that students stay safe and focused by filtering content on the browser, managing screen time, and keeping parents in the loop.
Learn more about the service by visiting the Securly Home App Set Up Guide
