KIPP's Mission
Together with families and communities, we create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose—college, career, and beyond—so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world.
KPHS's Vision
At KIPP: Pride High School, our motto is “We learn not for school, but for life.” Our mission is to create a rigorous and joyful learning environment, that provides every scholar with the academic, social and emotional skills necessary to live a life of academic and professional choice. Together, with our scholars, we will lead and serve in our school, community, and will fight for social justice, impacting society, now, and for generations to come.
Core Value of the Month
A sense of community is an essential element in providing students with a meaningful education. We strive to be a purposeful place of learning in which every student, staff member and family feels special connections. Shared rituals play a powerful role in creating the larger school community in which the smaller, personalized communities of learners can exist. We are also part of a broader community, and through our commitment to the school and the larger community, our talents and knowledge become long lasting and more meaningful when they are shared with others.

KPHS Culture Highlights
Cell Phone Free School
- We are a cell phone free school and now so are all public schools in North Carolina. Each student will be assigned a Yondr Pouch at the start of the school year and will be responsible for the pouch for the entire school year. Damaged or lost pouches must be replaced for a fee of forty-dollars ($50) that must be paid prior to release of student report cards, records, student incentives, and participation in extracurricular activities. We will conduct Yondr checks daily at the start and end of the school day, prior to Winter and Spring Break. The final collection of Yondr Pouches will happen at the end of the school year. Yondr: Parent Toolkit
Clear Backpacks
This school year, clear backpacks and purses will be required for all students and are the only option for students to utilize. Clear backpacks are important because they enhance safety and security on campus. Clear backpacks allow school staff to quickly see the contents in students’ possession without opening them, helping to prevent the concealment of any prohibited items. School culture and safety is a shared responsibility among students, staff, and families. Clear backpacks will be provided for all students and covered through student dues.
