Every week we will feature a community member who gives back to Walteria and we will ask them a few questions about their volunteerism.

Parent Robert Hilo

This week, our volunteer of the week is Mr. Robert Hilo, a professional DJ and Watleria parent, who is supporting our school community with his gift of time. Recently, he DJ'd and MC'd our Halloween Parade and it was a hit! Here are the answers to the questions we asked him:

1. Why did you decide to volunteer at Walteria?

I wanted to be involved since the very beginning of my daughter’s enrollment. (Leah Hilo, Mrs. McCaw) Time goes by so fast! I want to create wonderful moments with her and all of Walteria.

2. What do you love about volunteering?

On the first day of volunteering, I was met with open arms from all the students. Just hearing “Thank you Mr. Hilo!” makes it all worth it.

3. What is one fun or memorable moment about your volunteer time?

Hands down! It’s was the Halloween parade! Mrs. Guidi told me they haven’t done one in a couple years due to COVID. Come the day of the event, students were cheering and laughing! It was a Monday event. But it felt like all were ready for the weekend!

4. What advice would you give to people considering volunteering at Walteria?

Come with an open heart and give!
