Tuesday is a Town Election
When our kids return on Tuesday, Sept. 3rd, JRB is the site for Ashburnham's town elections. This takes place in the gym, and we are happy to have the best cooperation with the Ashburnham Police Department to maintain the safety of our students and the separation of the voting. This election, while not as large as our November one, will prove to have it's challenges.
When dropping off your child between 8:20-8:30, please use the left lane to wait. This is different than our usual day when we all wait on the right. Voters will be parking on the far right side. While confusing, it usually works out well.
We would ask for a similar situation for parent pick-up at 2:50,. Please form the line on the left side of the back road. This should allow voters to park on the right.
We always ask the APD to send a message to the folks of the town reminding them to please try to avoid 8:00-8:30 and 2:30-3:00 as a voting time unless it is the only time you can make it. Plus, Mr. Berg has handled voting in his classroom (the gym) before, and his flexibility proves to be a great strength. Finally, we do not let any voters through the lobby to vote. All voters enter using the back door of the gym.
Usual Plans
Please let the school know your 'usual plan' for your child at the end of the day. Sending in a note that states if you will be going to parent pick-up, bus, or extended day on a regular basis will be very helpful. You can also email jrboffice@awrsd.org with this information as well.
Attendance is taken promptly each morning. Please call JRB (978) 827-5750 or email jrboffice@awrsd.org when your child will be absent or late for school. Please state your name(first and last name), your child’s name, teacher, and the reason for absence. If you must speak to someone, please call after 7:45 AM. If we do not hear from you, we will contact you at home or work. This system is to ensure the safety of your child.
Notes From The Nurse's Office
Hello JRB Families,
I want to welcome all of our new families and welcome back our returning families!
A few reminders to help us to assist your students to be as successful as possible while at school:
If your student will be receiving medication while at school, whether it be daily or as needed, please contact me as soon as possible to discuss the documentation that will be needed. When bringing medication to school for your student please DO NOT place the medication in the students backpack. An adult is required to bring in all medications to the office and hand them to either myself or another office staff member.
**Please remember to inform the Nurses Office if your child has been in an accident or injured. It is important to keep the Nurses Office Office updated on injuries and accidents so that we can provide the best care for your child while in school.
**Please report your student’s illness/injury/reason when calling or emailing in an absence.
If your student has a fever over 100 degrees, they should remain at home until they have been fever free for 24hrs without the use of medication.
**If your student has been vomiting and/or has diarrhea, they should remain at home until they have not had any more episodes for 24hrs.

This is a great opportunity for parents and students in grades 3-5 to see and hear each instrument in person that is offered in the JRB Band! Students will also be able to register for lessons and instrument rentals during the evening.
If you’re unable to attend this event and would like more information, or If your student already knows which instrument they would like to play, such as the flute, alto saxophone, trombone, clarinet, or trumpet, please refer to this FORM, which contains all Beginner Band and lesson info/registration. Or look for the blue flyer in your child’s backpack! Then visit davidfrenchmusic.com to book your instrument rental and purchase a lesson book. We do offer drum lessons, but try to keep our number of drummers to a minimum so that there are adequate playing opportunities for each in the band. If your child learns a woodwind or brass instrument named above, they learn how to read both rhythms AND pitches, rather than just rhythms on drums. All beginner lessons will start the week of Sept. 16th, following the instrument delivery date of 9/12.
We hope to start Beginner Band on Tuesday, 10/22 from 3-4pm, and each Tuesday thereafter. Please let the office know your child will be staying after school for Beginner Band: jrboffice@awrsd.org.
For students returning from band last year: Advanced Band will meet on Thursdays, from 3-4pm, start date 9/12. Mrs. Lordan has already reached out to parents via email to book lesson times. Please let the office know your child is staying after school on Thursdays.
JRB Chorus Info: Registration is now OPEN for the 2024-25 JRB CHORUS, for students in grades 3-5 who love to sing! There is NO COST to participate! Rehearsals will be on Friday mornings BEFORE school at 7:30am, beginning on Sept. 6th. We have our first performance of the new school year on Sept. 21st at the Celebrate Ashburnham Street Fair!
