From the desk of Dr. Marilyn Smith
Hello Jefferson County School District Family,
My name is Dr. Marilyn Smith, and I am honored to serve in my first year as the Federal Programs Director. I am a proud 1993 graduate of Jefferson County High School. My educational journey includes a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, a Master of Arts in Secondary Education, and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Alcorn State University, as well as a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration and Supervision from Jackson State University. I also completed training at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy in 2001.
For over twenty years, I have served the Jefferson County School District in various roles, building strong relationships with students, staff, and the community. My passion has always been ensuring every child has the resources and support needed to reach their highest potential.
Motto: “Excellence for every student, every day.”
My Goal: To ensure that all federal programs and resources are used strategically and effectively to create equitable, high-quality learning opportunities for every student in Jefferson County.
I look forward to collaborating with our educators, families, and community partners as we work together toward student success.
