Christie's Corner
Hi Families! Well the calendar is saying that fall is here, but this warm weather is telling us otherwise. I was in the grocery store on Saturday and eggnog was available. It made me laugh, because with this warm weather, I can't even think of the possibility of drinking eggnog on a cool winter day.
The 19 Six architects have spent many days collaborating with the staff on what specific needs they have for their rooms and it feels like they are making really good progress with the project! At the CAC meeting on September 30, they shared their most recent renderings, which were quite impressive. I think you will all be happy with the results. They also attended our Collaboration on October 8, and asked for further feedback from our staff. Please find a representation below.
October 19-22, four members of our staff will be attending the Closing the Gap conference in Minneapolis. We hope to learn many more strategies that we can share with you to help your student be even more successful while at school.
Harvest Festival - October 30
We would also like to invite you to our Harvest Festival on October 30 from 9:45 - 1:00. Classrooms will have set times when they will be going down to the MP Room to have fun doing fall activities. Please check with your child's teacher for the schedule. Parents are welcome to join their child going through the activities. We would love to have parents volunteer to run the activities for us. You don't need to volunteer the whole time, even a little bit of time will help. Students may dress up in friendly costumes.

M.O.V.E. Moment
M.O.V.E. stands for Mobility Opportunities Via Education/Experience and is a San Juan sponsored activity-based program designed to teach children with severe disabilities the functional motor skills needed to sit, stand, and walk as independently as possible. We have students and staff working very hard on this every day!
Meet Maryjane!! Maryjane has worked for years to stand and be able to comfortably ride a bike and sit independently. Her work ethic and enthusiasm is contagious, and she is looking amazing in all of her activities. Keep up the amazing work, Maryjane!!
