Happy Mother's Day!
Before we dive into our post-performance wrap-up, we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible women in our community. To all the mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and mother-figures who support our students every single day, Happy Mother’s Day! Your dedication, love, and encouragement are the foundation of everything we achieve here at school. We hope you feel celebrated and appreciated this weekend.
A special shout-out goes to Miguel Hernandez, a Jungman parent, and his restaurant Pochos for graciously hosting the delicious brunch afterward. We are so lucky to have such supportive local partners!
The Team Behind the Magic
This production was a massive collaborative effort, and it wouldn't have been possible without:
The Class of 2026: For "running the show" with leadership and grace.
Ms. McKittrick & The Student Tech Crew: For keeping the lights on and the sound crisp.
The Organizing Trio: Ms. Valenciana, Ms. Tobiason, and Ms. VanLapid for their tireless work behind the scenes to pull the logistics together.
Mr. Alvarez: For his sharp eye in managing the fine details.
Our Faculty: For stretching their expertise and mentoring our students through every song, dance, and poem.
BOGO Fair is HERE!
Our Buy One, Get One FREE Book Fair is open!! This is not a fundraiser, but a "Thank You" fair to get more books into students' hands.
When: All next week.
Hours: Before school, during lunch/recess, and after school until 3:00 PM.
Why are books important in the home?
Daily Reading: Kids with their own books are 4x more likely to read every day.
The Academic Edge: Students in book-rich homes stay an average of 3 years ahead in school.
The Word Gap: Reading at home exposes children to 1.4 million more words by kindergarten.
Thank you to Ms. Vahey for organizing ALL our Book Fairs and helping to get more books in our students hands.
Let's finish this year STRONG with Good Attendance---On-Time, Ready to Learn!
We are officially "down to the wire," but the finish line is in sight! Lately, we’ve noticed a rise in tardies and absences. While it’s tempting to slide into summer mode early, every minute in the classroom counts for our students' final progress.
Let’s keep the momentum going and make sure every student is here, on time, and ready to learn. Let’s finish the school year Jungman strong!

Eagle Athletics
Due to a lack of commitment, we have to cancel our Girls Soccer and Boys Flag Football this Spring. We will try again next year!
Good luck to our Track and Field Team who are already earning medals in their events!
Volunteer Process
To volunteer at Jungman, you need clearance, EVERY SCHOOL YEAR, from Chicago Public Schools! This requires a few steps!
- Login/Create an account online
- Bring your photo ID to the office or email it to Ms. Jessica at jmoreno83@cps.edu
- WATCH for an email from CPS that has a video you need to watch. When you complete the video, you download and send a copy of the certificate to volunteer@cps.edu
If you don't follow these steps, you will not be approved! This is not a Jungman policy, this is a District Policy!
The Eagle Alliance Movement
The Eagle Alliance Movement (TEAM) is a dedicated group of parent volunteers who bring our school community to life! They plan exciting events, organize fundraisers, and support key student initiatives—all with the goal of making our school stronger and more connected.
Everything they do is powered by 100% volunteer energy, creativity, and care. From community-building events to fundraising efforts, TEAM works hard to create opportunities for families, students, and staff to come together.
Check out the section below for their community initiatives, fundraising projects, and this year’s calendar of events.
