Grüezi liebe Kolleg:innen!

Grüezi! and welcome to the 27th Annual Immersion Weekend for German Teachers! This professional development event is designed for you to connect with other German teachers who desire to learn about a topic related to German language and culture. Our theme this year is Moderner inklusiver Unterricht! Following three learning sessions on Saturday, you will have time to collaborate in small groups to develop materials of your own. On Sunday morning, groups will share their newly developed resources, which you can take home as well.

Participants are expected to speak German throughout the weekend so all can get the most out of the immersion experience.

It's not all academic! There is plenty of time to build camaraderie with a Swiss buffet and evening free time. Don't forget your Dirndls and Lederhosen! The charming town of New Glarus, America's "Little Switzerland," is also nice for shopping and socializing.

New teachers and teachers in training are encouraged to attend!

We look forward to seeing you in New Glarus!!

Das Thema

We are excited to invite you to the 27th Immersion Weekend for German Teachers Northern Illinois AATG - Wisconsin AATG.

This year we will partner with the Goethe-Institut to offer hands-on professional development sessions with the theme of “moderner inklusiver Unterricht”-instructional approaches for today’s modern students and their learning needs in the German classroom. Program updates and full details will be shared as they become available.

Based on the responses we received from the survey sent out to both NOIL- and WI-AATG members this past fall, we have made some changes to this year’s immersion weekend structure and cost. To keep the cost of the weekend more sustainable, Friday night will now be optional at an additional cost. For those who select this option, there will still be a light program offered with food on your own. Our Saturday schedule will remain unchanged with a full day of professional development and at least one Swiss meal. We will also be bringing back an evening of fun and socializing with dinner. Sunday will include a time for sharing professional materials after breakfast. As always, the expectation is that participants will enjoy speaking German for the entire weekend.

Our annual immersion weekend will take place February 17-18, 2024. Wir freuen uns auf euch!
