Book Fair
Our school's December book fair was a success! Thank you to the BES staff and volunteers who helped make it happen, and to our students and families who shopped to support this important library fundraiser. A special shout-out to Greenville Federal Credit Union's Sarah Bell (pictured below right) for generously purchasing from our teachers' wish lists, helping to improve their classroom libraries!
Financial Literacy
In preparation for our book fair, students practiced their financial literacy skills through a mock book fair shopping experience. The read-aloud and discussions of Maribeth Boelts's books, A Bike Like Sergio's and Those Shoes, provided great pre-lesson activities to encourage a fiscal and budgetary mindset (image: Amazon).

Library Volunteer Appreciation
Our December volunteer appreciation breakfast, sponsored by Duck Donuts, celebrated our hardworking 5th-grade student library volunteers who keep our space in tip-top shape. The media center wouldn't be the same without them! (Clockwise from top: Katelynn, Jayla, Ella, and Brendy; not pictured, Anna.)
Reading Celebration
Students and staff alike were in the spirit of celebrating reading during our January Winter Break Reading Celebration. Treats, made by Enoree Career Center students and sponsored by Greenville Federal Credit Union's Sarah Bell, were enjoyed by those who completed and returned their winter break reading logs.
Reading All-Stars
New Year, New Reading Challenge! On January 12th, our students began the Greenville Drive's Reading All -Stars program. Students across Greenville County who read and record five books by Feb. 13th will receive a ticket to the Greenville Drive's Reading All-Stars celebratory baseball game at Fluor Field in downtown Greenville on April 14th or 15th. Our school's 5th-grade Battle of the Books team is scheduled to scrimmage Monaview Elementary's team virtually on February 12th in preparation for the district's reading quiz-bowl competition on March 24th (location TBD).
Our teammates pictured below received a Book Brag Tag (SchooLife: pictured on left) for the Battle of the Books title they recently completed reading.
