Mill Valley Weekly
December 4th, 2025

Hello Mill Valley Families,
Let's brighten our hallways and share the joy of the season! We are creating a spectacular bulletin board near the main office to display all the beautiful holiday cards our families send.
This is a wonderful way for our students to see the warm wishes from our entire Mill Valley Family. It's easy to share your holiday spirit!
How to Participate
What to Send: We invite you to send one of your family's holiday cards (Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Year's, Winter Solstice, or any general holiday greeting) to school.
When to Send: Please send your card with your student starting Friday, December 5th
How to Send: Place the card in your student's folder or backpack, clearly labeled with "Holiday Card Display" so the teacher knows where to send it or you can email a digital version to Kimberly Reichart (kimberly.reichart@muskegonorway.org)
In Partnership,

A note from Mr. Smith and Ms. Yeazel
We have been continuing our Components of Fitness unit with a focus on Muscular Endurance. Kindergarten and 1st grade students have been enjoying station work such as our rockwall & Scooter Rope. 2nd, 3rd, & 4th grade students have been participating in a fitness game called "Knights of the Round Table" which requires the catapults to perform "sit-ups" in order to fire at the other team's Castles (bowling pins).

Third Grade Student Council has started a Recycle Club. Members gave a presentation to each classroom about recycling and placed reminder signs around the school. They take the recycling out once a week. The Golden Recycle Bin winners are selected and announced at Golden Awards by the Student Council members.

PBIS November Student Summary
Mill Valley students continue to work hard to demonstrate their respect, their responsibility, and their kindness. At the end of each month, behavior referral (majors and minors) graphs are shared with the staff and students. We wanted to share data trends with you, as well. When teachers share the graphs with their students, they facilitate important conversations about behavior in regard to trends, noticings, and potential actions to decrease the number of behavior referrals each month.
Below are some noticings and patterns from our staff and students:
Second and Fourth grades tied with the least number of majors and minors.
Referrals most often happen in the classroom
Most of the majors and minors in the classroom are disrespectful and disruptive behaviors. Teachers and EAs are working diligently to build rapport and authentic relationships with the students. Our school staff are focusing on Restorative Practices in their classrooms.
Referrals happen least often in specials and on the bus.
Most kids at Mill Valley are doing a great job of trying their best and aren’t receiving behavior referrals.
In addition, our students have earned 3,076 Paw Prints in the month of November! As a reminder, students earn Paw Prints for being caught being respectful, responsible, or kind.
