Rod's Random Thoughts
Happy Monday Hornets!
I hope you all weathered the storms and that you have power again this morning. We came through with no damage at my house in Enumclaw, but we did lose power for about 12 hours. Luckily there was no Seahawks' game to get interrupted.
Speaking of football games - WOW! What a game on Saturday. The Hornets faced a 4-2 Eastmont team from East Wenatchee. Eastmont is a 4A school that is in 2nd place in the 4A Columbia Basin Big-9 District. The Hornets fell behind 21-7 in the 2nd quarter, but came back to win 33-28 in the last minute of play. The Hornets play next on Friday in the Battle of the Bridge game against unbeaten White River. That should be a great game. Go Enumclaw Hornets! (not those other Hornets)
We are on a 2-Hour Late Start today due to the power outage. The schedule is attached above in the What's Happening section. Remember that lunches happen in 3rd period, that means students need to take the same lunch as their 3rd period teacher.
This week is an Academic Focus Week. Academic Focus Week is designed to provide students with dedicated time and support to strengthen their academic success. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday the schedule includes a 30-minute focus period where students can connect with teachers for additional help, make up missed tests or projects, catch up on assignments, or spend extra time studying. The goal is to ensure that every student has the opportunity to stay on track, reinforce learning, and take responsibility for their progress in a supportive environment. Students should make arrangements with their teachers if they plan to leave their 2nd period classroom for a different classroom during Academic Focus Time.
Halloween on Friday! Halloween is this Friday and many students (and staff) love to dress up to celebrate the occasion. Please read the guidelines below if you plan to dress up. These same rules extend to the football game on Friday night.
Save the Date - HS Conferences and Beyond the Hive Night. EHS will host conferences on November 20, 21, & 24. As part of conferences we will also host a Beyond the Hive Night to share information with students and families on preparing for what happens next after high school graduation. Please see below for more details.
That’s all for now. Let’s make it a great week.

Dressing Up for Halloween at EHS
Student leadership encourages all Hornets to support our school spirit. For those students who would like to dress up on Halloween at school, they are more than welcome to, as long as they follow the guidelines listed below. Students may opt to wear Halloween costumes to school on October 31st ONLY.
Regular school rules regarding the dress code must be followed.
No masks, full face paint, canes, sticks, or weapon-like items of any kind are allowed. No fake blood or other substances that will spill or cause a mess will be allowed.
Students may not wear anything suggestive or provocative in nature. No underwear as outerwear will be allowed.
Nothing that promotes the use of illegal substances or activities, derogatory or disrespectful or portrays violence.
Students must show respect to other students by not touching, defacing or insulting other students' costumes.
Students must show respect for others by not choosing costumes that are insensitive and/or offensive to the diverse backgrounds represented by others at our school.
No costume can be worn that is unsafe or that may create a safety hazard.
Hornet Students - We would like to continue the tradition of dressing up for Halloween, please
BE RESPECTFUL AND RESPONSIBLE!
