Important dates Important dates

-November 23-27: No school. Thanksgiving break

Homework Homework

Homework will be sent home Monday and will be due next Monday. Just a reminder that homework does go on their grade. Also math flash cards and practicing math facts at home are extremely helpful to build fact fluency.

Literacy Literacy

We are continuing our discussions and learning about ancient Asian civilizations. We are learning about aw and au and then reviewing all vowel teams we have learned up to this point. As your students write make sure they are paying attention to punctuation and capitals at the beginning of sentences. We have also learned about capitalizing proper nouns in our sentences and expanding them to include when, where, why, and how details.

Math Math

We are going to learn adding 4 numbers together this week while also reviewing triple digit addition and subtraction. I would love if you can practice time and money with them at home also. Keeping those concepts fresh is helpful.

All About Me

Hello parents. I am so excited to teach 2nd grade this year and get to know my wonderful students This is my 4th year teaching, but I have been at Wasatch Peak for 10 years. I graduated from Utah State University with my degree in elementary education. The timing was just not quite right for me to teach right after I graduated. I started my family and stayed home to raise my girls. My passion for education and teaching kids didn't go away during this time though. It always stayed in my heart and mind. When my girls were both in school full time I decided to get back into a classroom and start working. I was hired on as an aide at Wasatch Peak and enjoyed my years of being an aide and helping teachers and students. Now I enjoy getting to teach my own classroom.

When I am not at the school I am spending time with my wonderful family. I have a husband and 2 daughters Allie and Mackenzie who are 18 and almost 17. They are my world and I love spending time with them. My girls make me laugh on a daily basis. A few things I enjoy are reading, riding my bike, watching movies and shows, playing games, and building jigsaw puzzles. Puzzles are my strange happy place and they calm me and make me extremely happy.

I look forward to a wonderful and fun year of teaching, learning, and growth.
