A Message from the Principal
Dear Parents & Guardians,
HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope that everyone had a fantastic holiday season.
I am very eager to make 2024 the best year ever at Tuscarora Elementary. One piece of making it a great year will be to see our students continue to thrive academically. You, as parents, can help to assist with preparing your child, regardless of their grade level, by reviewing math facts and reading with him or her daily. Studies show that just a few minutes of reading and math review each day can have a profound impact on student achievement.
Next, I want to make you aware of some important academic dates for this coming month. Students in grades Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd will be assessed this month in Math and Reading via the IReady assessment. These assessments will take place from January 8th-January 19th. If you have any questions about when your student will take the assessment, please reach out to their teacher. Also, on January 8th, report cards for the 2nd 9 weeks will be issued. These will be sent home with your student. On Thursday, January 11th, we will be doing Parent/Teacher conferences from 5:00-7:00 PM. Finally, On Monday, January 15th there will be no school for students and staff in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
As always, thank you for your continued support of Tuscarora Elementary. I look forward to what the new year will bring!
Sincerely,
Dr. Tyler Long, Principal
