DKHS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
"Do A Job"
DECEMBER 6, 2024
And the countdown is on!! The end of semester one, final exams, and Christmas Break are all just around the corner on December 20th. Remember that those last 3 days of the semester on the 18th, 19th, and 20th are all half days in the district. High school students have been reminded over the last few weeks to check their semester two schedule to be sure they have all that they need. Please look with them in PowerSchool and have them meet with Mr. VanHoose before we leave if they need changes. Mr. VanHoose is our new school counselor and is also this week’s featured staff member in our new Meet Our Staff entry in the bulletin.
Our winter sports teams are all into their seasons now and we are hosting a wrestling tournament this weekend at DKHS. Friday our JV team competes and our varsity team takes the mat tomorrow in our 10-team DK Invitational. Our new girl's wrestling team travels to Bangor to compete in their first match of the season with 23 teams competing. Basketball is off to a good start with both teams sitting at 1-0 as they travel tonight to Holland Black River for a varsity doubleheader. We have our Winter Formal on Saturday put on by our always-active Student Council. Our new robotics club is ready to kick off its year and is currently accepting applications. Ski Club is returning so anyone interested in hitting the slopes this year should contact Mrs. Sinclair or Mrs. Bever in the high school office. We just finalized the hiring of two Delton graduates to lead our Follies and Spring Play this year. Nicole Krzebietke and Noelle Vroegop will be Co-Directors and are organizing Kick-Line tryouts and other auditions for this year’s theme of Follies Circus. Those auditions happen next week on December 10th and 11th. If our kids are not involved in something here at DKHS they need to look a little harder and find one of the many teams or activities to join and get connected. This involvement makes for a much more enjoyable experience for your years here at DKHS.
This week’s DO A JOB Hogie’s Hero Award winner is Trinitee Crowe. Trinitee is having another good year academically. Trinitee is always looking out for her peers and is kind, compassionate, and tolerant of others. She has a servant's heart and is willing to help wherever it is needed. That is what DO A JOB is all about!! Proud of you Trinitee.
