The Weekly Update #4
September 17th, 2026

Junior Kindergarten Newsletter 10/23
I hope you all had a wonderful week. We are nearing the end of our second unit “Ramp it Up”. Students worked hard creating a delivery service to help others around our school. Next week, we will begin our third unit (Farm to Table). This unit focuses around the question “How does the food we eat get to our plates?”
This week we…
Learned the letters I, J, and C
Worked in groups during Word Wonders. We practiced our fine motor skills, identifying the first sound in words we hear, and matching lowercase letters to uppercase letters.
Made different shapes as a whole group with our bodies. For example, we made a big square and we had to make sure there were the same number of people on each side :)
Made Jack-O-Lanterns using the shapes we have learned about
Practiced our gluing skills by creating different things in our world using shapes (house, snowman, caterpillar, etc.)
Read the books My Rainy Day Rocket Ship, Beautiful Oops, Crash! Boom! A Math Tale, and The Green Piano
Learned how different textures affect the speed of an object rolling down a ramp.
Painted pictures using different wheels
Finished our classroom book of diagrams
Revisited the engineering design cycle (we find a problem, we talk/create, we try and improve).
and so much more!
Reminders
Our Halloween party will be on October 30th. Junior Kindergarten parties will be from 2:00-2:45 (this is before the parade, which is a different time from grades 1-5). The all school Halloween parade will be from 2:45-3:10ish. All parents are welcome to join us for the parade. Hopefully the weather is good so it can be outside. Junior Kindergarten students are invited to wear their costume to school and wear it all day.
Thank you to our awesome room parents who are working hard to plan our party!
November 9th will be our next early release day. Junior Kindergarten will be dismissed at 1:35.
