Resisting Empire: The Book of Revelation @ Providence Baptist Church

On September 9 and 10, Wess Daniels will be speaking at Providence Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC on the book of Revelation from his recent book "Resisting Empire: The Book of Revelation" (available now on Kindle). In these two talks, he will present strategies for reading biblical texts with a liberatory framework, and how to understand the book of Revelation as a manual for how to resist empire. The typical "End Times" interpretations have rendered the book of Revelation harmless in the eyes of empire, how might we re-imagine what the early Christian communities understood when they heard this letter to the seven churches read allow in their gatherings for worship?

Following the presentation on the Book of Revelation, The Dean of Duke University Chapel, Rev. Dr. Luke A. Powery, will be giving a sermon both nights focusing on the theme of the "Promises of God."
