Mayfair High School celebrated its 2nd Annual Scholarship Celebration and Senior Awards Night, honoring the exceptional achievements of its graduating seniors. The event, held on May 16th, saw an impressive turnout of students, parents, and faculty, all gathered to recognize the hard work and dedication of the Class of 2024.

This year, 77 scholarships were awarded, amounting to approximately $75,000. The scholarships, funded by various community organizations, local businesses, and private donors, will support students in their pursuit of higher education across diverse fields.

In addition to the scholarships, a remarkable 270 awards were presented to students for their outstanding academic, athletic, and extracurricular achievements. These awards highlighted the diverse talents and dedication of Mayfair’s senior class.

One of the most impressive statistics of the night was the recognition of over 100 students who successfully completed a Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathway. This accomplishment underscores the school’s commitment to providing practical and vocational education alongside traditional academic programs, preparing students for a wide range of career opportunities post-graduation.

Furthermore, 97 graduates earned the prestigious California State Seal of Biliteracy, showcasing their proficiency in two or more languages. This achievement highlights the linguistic and cultural diversity celebrated at Mayfair High School.

Principal Sean Diaz commended the students, stating, “Tonight’s celebration is a testament to the hard work and perseverance of our students. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and excited for their future endeavors. They truly live the school tagline #bewater - they have found a way to succeed.”

Graduation for the Class of 2024 will take place on Tuesday, June 4th at 7 PM. Tickets are required.

Josh Childress (Mayfair Class of 2001) from the Childress Family Foundation awarded $42,000 to Mayfair student-athletes for their academic and athletic accomplishments (students from left to right: Bella Ochoa, Grace Cummins, Stella Lynch, Harshpreet Kaur and Tyzer Handy).

Adult Transition Center Ceremony

With the support of their teachers, staff, coaches, and peers, these students have learned how to navigate their community and neighborhood to utilize the goods and services offered to them for the opportunities for a productive and enriched adult life.

Our students have learned how to ride the bus, walk the public sidewalks and crosswalks safely, enjoy a restaurant appropriately, order food correctly, and handle money efficiently. They have been to bookstores and baseball games and everything in between!

On campus, Tyler, Priscilla, and Levi have had weekly cooking lessons, kept up on current world events with our morning meetings, practiced gardening and household chores, and participated in various leisure and recreation activities whether it be karaoke or Yahtzee. It is safe to say that these memories will last a lifetime!

Our students love coming to school each day because the ATC is a safe, playful, and warm place for young adults to learn and grow. We thank our parents and administrators so very much for supporting our program.

ILC 5th Grade Students Learning about Money Smart with DFCU Resources!

Our 5th grade ILC Eagles learned about financial education through a game designed to teach them about managing their money responsibly. Students received a profile that included an occupation and income, then were tasked with visiting multiple stations to make purchases in a variety of real life categories such as housing, groceries, entertainment, and transportation. Students were encouraged to make "money smart" shopping decisions by selecting the options that fit best for their budget.
