MCP3 Parent Newsletter-#7
October 6th, 2026
A Message from Ms. Peterson
Hello MCP3 Families,
October is the beginning of the Autumn season and seasonal changes. During this time, students tend to get sick with the flu as the season changes. Please remind your students to wash their hands, drink plenty of fluids, and get a good night's sleep to reduce their risk of illness. At school, we teach scholars about proper handwashing steps and how to catch their cough/sneeze in their elbow.
It is recommended that preschool children get 10-13 hours of sleep each day (including naps). "Children need their sleep to be their best," says Dr. Shah, a pediatric sleep specialist states. Research shows that kids who get enough sleep show improvements in:
- Attention.
- Behavior.
- Learning.
- Memory.
- Emotional regulation.
- Mental health.
- Physical health.
- Overall quality of life.
MCP families, we want to hear from you! Our short Quarter 1 Family Pulse Survey opens today- Tuesday, October 6, and closes Friday, October 16. Look for the link in your email, family newsletter, and Class Dojo. Here is the Family Survey Link: https://mkeprep.fillout.com/t/uyTuXJwBvnus
Your feedback helps us understand how your family experiences MCP and where we can improve. We will ask the same questions each quarter to track progress and take action throughout the year. Results will be reviewed October 19 and used to identify next steps at our October 23 Network Summit. Every family’s voice matters. Please take a few minutes to participate and help us continue Protecting What Matters Most.
Aftercare Room Change
Starting next week, October 12th, our aftercare room will be in room 122 from 4:00pm-5:30pm daily. The same procedures for signing your scholars in and out will continue and we will have the same wonderful aftercare staff.
Ages & Stages Questionnaire- ASQ
The first 5 years of your child’s life are very important for your child because this time sets the stage for success in school and later life. During these years, your child will gain many experiences and learn many skills. We want to be able to provide the best start for your child. MCP3 will provide the Ages & Stages Questionnaires, Third Edition (ASQ 3), to help you keep track of your child’s development. A questionnaire will be provided to you around the time your child turns 3 ½ (42 months) and/or 4 years old (48 months). You will be asked to answer questions about some things your child can and cannot do. The questionnaire includes questions about your child’s communication, gross and fine motor, problem solving, and personal-social skills. MCP3 will use the information to guide individualized support for continuous development and will provide some activities designed for use with the ASQ-3 for you to do at home with your child.
The first round of ASQs were sent home today to scholars who turned/turn 42 months or 48 months between 8/21/26-11/31/26. Please complete and return the ASQ by October 30th. We look forward to your participation in our developmental screening process! Reach out to your child's teacher or myself if you have any further questions regarding the ASQ. If you choose not to complete the questionnaire, I ask that you email me at @ allison.peterson@mkeprep.com.
