The Akron Rams Knowledge Bowl team had the honor of representing their school at the 2025 Colorado State Competition over spring break. They earned their spot after claiming the regional championship more than a month ago.

Riding a wave of momentum, the Rams started strong—finishing Day 1 tied for 2nd place in the 1A division. The two-day event challenged teams with one written round each day (60 questions) and eight total oral rounds (five on Day 1 and three on Day 2, with 50 questions per round).

In the end, after answering an impressive 620 questions, the Rams secured a 6th place finish in 1A—just 13 questions away from reaching the podium. Despite narrowly missing a top-three finish, the team had a blast: enjoying good food, great music, and quality time together. A team dinner followed by a hilarious night playing Telestrations at the hotel made for unforgettable memories and plenty of laughs.

As the season wraps up, the team faces the challenge of filling some big shoes with the graduation of four seniors. We extend our deepest thanks to Carl McGuire IV, Haylee Roseberry, Elyse Jackson, and Caleb Poss for their leadership and commitment to the team. A special thank-you also goes to Coach Paula McGuire for her years of dedication to the team and the Knowledge Bowl program.

Way to make Akron proud, Rams!

Proud of our Akron Rams Basketball Teams!

Hey, We Made It to State Too! Hey, We Made It to State Too!

While many fans were focused on the Elite 8 showdown against Burlington, another exciting moment took place behind the scenes at the State Championships. Akron youth broadcasters Tuck and Aydan stepped into the spotlight with a standout performance of their own.

During halftime, the duo was interviewed live on the NFHS stream—and then given the incredible opportunity to call the third quarter and a large portion of the fourth. These two young broadcasters have done an outstanding job all season long, and it was only fitting that their voices were heard on the biggest stage of the year. A huge shout out to the Akron Lady Rams for opening that door!

In a fun new addition, Tuck and Aydan also conducted post-game interviews. They created their own questions and highlights to discuss with Coach Randel and several players, showing great initiative and professionalism. We’re hopeful this will become a regular feature in future game streams.

The boys have already expressed interest in calling baseball games this spring—so keep an ear out! Thank you, Tuck and Aydan, for your hard work, creativity, and for representing Akron so well. You rock!
