Please join in the fun tonight at our End of the Year Party hosted by our PTA. There will be yard games in the gym and a large inflatable slide under the playshed. Food to purchase from an ice cream and taco truck. The event is from 5-7pm rain or shine. If the weather holds, our new play structure is open and our Orcas are welcome to play on it. Families please park and walk around to our playshed around back for the festivities.

The nineteenth day of June, recognized as Juneteenth, is a day of remembrance for the day enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom, more than two years after the emancipation proclamation was issued. Juneteenth has been designated as a federal holiday and in 2023 will become a Washington state holiday. This year, classrooms across the district will be recognizing Juneteenth on either Friday, June 17, or Monday, June 20. Here are some resources for families to learn more about Juneteenth.

• Juneteenth: All About the Holidays is a short PBS video that offers an introduction to younger students

• Juneteenth - A Celebration of Resilience is a website from the Smithsonian with a variety of resources
