Breakfast Gift Card Winner
Congratulations to this week's breakfast gift card winner, Evan Ellis!
Road Ready: Building Safer Drivers
This week, Mr. Froats accompanied four studentsโCaleb Matalik, Damon Shaffer, Paige Klodowski, and Camryn Reddingerโto the Youth Traffic Safety Conference at PennWest California. Through engaging, interactive sessions, students explored critical topics related to safe driving, including space management, the impact of driver behavior, the importance of staying alert and well-rested, and the serious dangers of distracted driving.
The experience provided valuable, real-world insights that will help our students make informed, responsible decisions behind the wheel. We are proud of their participation and commitment to promoting safety both in our school and in our community.
Building Connections Through the Pennsylvania Story Project
BAEC students are bringing their learning to life through the Pennsylvania Story Project, where they are exploring their connections to the Keystone State and sharing their hometown stories with 5th grade students from the Brentwood School District. Using digital tools such as Padlet, students are collaborating, communicating, and showcasing their unique perspectives in meaningful ways.
This week, students took a virtual journey through Brentwood using Google Earth, deepening their understanding of another community while strengthening their own sense of place. This engaging, technology-rich projectโled by Mr. Rendulicโhighlights the power of connection, storytelling, and real-world learning experiences.
Piece by Piece: Learning in Action
Circle Time, Big Impact
Big ideas and meaningful conversations were on display as our BAEC 5th graders gathered for a recent 7 Mindsets lesson. During circle time, students reflected on what it means to become the best version of themselvesโsharing thoughtful insights about the power of kindness, putting forth their best effort, and believing in who they can become.
These moments of reflection help build strong character and a positive school community. Thank you to Mrs. Karas for guiding such an engaging and impactful discussion!
Taking the Fieldโand the Winโat EQT Park
Our Blue Devils varsity baseball team had a memorable experience this week as they took the field at EQT Park, home of the Washington Wild Things, to face Chartiers-Houston. Burgettstown delivered an impressive performance, earning an 11โ1 victory in six innings in Class 2A Section 1 play.
Blake Neal led the offense with three RBIs, while winning pitcher Matthew Bredel contributed a strong showing on the mound along with three hits at the plate. Colton County also added to the offensive effort with three hits and two RBIs.
It was a great day for Blue Devil baseball, combining strong team play with a unique opportunity to compete on a professional field.
Volunteers Make the Magic Happen
A heartfelt thank you to our amazing parent volunteers for their time, energy, and dedication in making this yearโs Scholastic Book Fair a success! Their efforts helped create a welcoming and engaging space for our students to explore new books and discover a love of reading.
Events like this are made possible through the strength of our school community, and we are truly grateful for the support of our volunteers. Thank you for helping make a lasting impact on our students!

Electronic Ticketing for Burgettstown Athletics!
This year, the Burgettstown Athletic Department is introducing digital ticketing for regular season football, volleyball, girls and boys basketball, and wrestling. Though all fans may still purchase a ticket "at the gate," but those who wish to avoid lines and pre-purchase an electronic ticket may do so by accessing the digital ticketing feature on the Hudl Fan page. Single game regular season tickets for both students and adults are available. Also, for those who know that will likely attend all games in a particular season, a season pass can be purchased. Please note: there is a processing fee, per ticket. This fee does not go to the school district, it is a vendor fee in support of the electronic ticketing feature. Scan the QR code or the button below to access the Hudl Fan page.

A Note about Commencement for the Class of 2026
Our school community has embraced the uniqueness of conducting commencement exercises at Star Lake for decades. The various management groups throughout the years have supported this by donating the use of the facility and we are most appreciative. While it is early in the school year, we want to make note that in order to hold graduation at Star Lake, flexibility in planning is necessary. Believe it or not, the planning for the next year begins shortly after the school year ends. We notify Star Lake management of our desired date and it is recorded as a preferred date. There are no guarantees, and in the past several years, we have not been able to finalize the date until some point in April. We know this causes a bit of anxiousness on the part of our seniors and their families, but if we want to continue this fine tradition, we must remain flexible. After last year's Commencement, we informed the management at Star Lake that our preferred date for this year's Commencement is June 5, 2026. While this is our preferred date, there is no guarantee that we will get it. As the months go by this year, the District will remain in contact with Star Lake management. When we know the confirmed date, we will communicate it to our students and families. Though graduation may be the last thing on anyone's mind this early in the school year, we wanted to communicate this information so there are no misunderstandings.
