A Note From Your Principal: Week of August 26th
We made it through the first two days of school! The energy from our students, families, and teachers was exactly what we needed to kick off a wonderful school year.
As you know, this is our WHOOT. The WHOOT will be our weekly family newsletter, ensuring you have access to important information, key updates, and dates to remember. We hope this newsletter keeps you informed and adds an extra layer of connection, making you feel even more a part of the Willard community. I am incredibly grateful to serve as your principal and to be part of this amazing journey with you. The excitement I feel for the year ahead is beyond words, and I look forward to all the great things we will accomplish together.
Love,
Ms. Battle
Highlight of the Week
I want to give a HUGE thank you to our amazing PTA for hosting Popsicles on the Playground and Family Chats before and after school. These events have truly set the tone for building a strong sense of belonging, community, and engagement as we begin the new school year. I also want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the families who helped decorate the building for our students. Your efforts created a warm and welcoming environment for the entire community.
A special thank you goes out to those who contributed to the back-to-school breakfast for our staff—our teachers felt so appreciated! And to everyone who continuously sends encouraging messages to our staff, thank you. Those little notes of kindness mean the world to us, reminding us that our teachers and staff are real-life superheroes!
Important Information for the Upcoming Week
Heat Advisory
We are expecting very warm weather on Monday and Tuesday. While we’re projecting temps in the 90s, with the humidity, the real feel could be 100 degrees +. With a potential heat advisory, we will be preparing to have Indoor Recess for our kiddos. If you're able, please send your kiddo to school with extra water bottles to avoid dehydration. We will also be sure to provide cups to classrooms for students who may not have water bottles.
Please note that any guidance regarding the heat advisory will be provided by the district.
Arrival
Thank you so much, Willard families, for your amazing support during arrival and dismissal! Your help really makes everything run smoothly each day, and we couldn’t do it without you. As you drop off your child, please make sure they’re visible to our teachers and staff, and then step back once they’re safely in their line. This small gesture goes a long way in keeping everyone safe and helps our little ones feel less overwhelmed during these busy times. We truly appreciate your partnership in making these important moments calm and comfortable for our students.
