VETERANS DAY
Their Legacy Lives On in Our Freedom
Thank You, Veterans!
At the eleventh hour on November 11, the guns of World War I fell silent, marking the official end of the conflict. Originally called Armistice Day, and now recognized as Veterans Day, this date is set aside each year to honor the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country. At OLHMS, we offer our sincere appreciation to all Veterans, especially those from the Oak Lawn and Hometown communities.
On Friday, November 7th, OLHMS paid tribute to these courageous individuals during our annual Veterans Day assembly. Eighth grade Student Ambassadors warmly welcomed more than 30 Veterans to the event, which began with opening remarks from OLHMS Principal Dr. Sean McNichols. Dr. McNichols expressed gratitude to the entire OLHMS community and extended special recognition to the honored Veterans in attendance.
