Farm to School & Child Nutrition

June 2026

🔅We kicked off the month of May by honoring the absolute heart of our program—our incredible School Lunch Heroes! 🎉The HCSD Food Service Team works tirelessly every day to nourish our students with delicious, healthy food and a whole lot of love. Thank you to our heroes for fueling our Bulldogs' success!!!! 💜

🌿School garden students have loved watching asparagus spears pushing up through the soil! This delicious perennial vegetable will be served up as Harvest of the month on school lunch trays. Local Farm to School partners have engaged students on farm field trips and school visits. The F2S fun didn't stop at the farm. Every elementary building in the district is currently hatching baby chicks 🐣🐥, giving students an unforgettable, firsthand look at the life cycle!

June will bring another school garden harvest for school lunch, lettuce 🥗🥬 to serve for a district wide Salad- Bration!

⛵🩴🍉⛲Watch for a Summer filled with Farm Field Trips, Fresh Produce Harvests, Fresh Healthy Tastings and lots of student and community engagement!

REMEMBER that student's first breakfast and lunch are free for all enrolled students. Give school lunch or breakfast a try!
