On November 11, Prep-KC hosted the 14th Annual Math Relays at Ruskin High School. Approximately 300 middle and high school students from 16 partner urban schools participated in team and individual events. Center brought 31 High School and Middle School "mathletes" to the competition and took top honors as the Top Scoring District! Our kids competed in events focused on Algrebra, Geometry, Number Sense, and Data Analysis. Fun events included the Amazing Race (where our middle school team took 1st place over ALL middle and high school competitors), the Escape Room, and Dear Data. River Moreland and Josephine Mosby won scholarships for their individual accomplishments. Congratulations to all of our scholars and thanks to coaches Diane Harris and Diana Elkishawi from CHS and Alanna Mangum from CMS.

Community Volunteers support scholars as Center Friends Community Volunteers support scholars as Center Friends

Center Friends has a long and wonderful history in the Center School District. The program matches community volunteers with opportunities to work in the schools to support our students and teachers. Originally set up to provide mentoring relationships with students, the post-Covid version has focused on volunteers helping in the classroom. There are currently close to 50 volunteers working with our classroom teachers.

A number of volunteers and staff members have asked about restarting the mentoring part of the program and we are working to do that starting shortly after the first of 2024. We will initially be matching community members with high school students. If you are interested in learning more or possibly volunteering, please contact program coordinator Alex Fritz at afritz@center.k12.mo.us.

Center Athletics moves to cash free ticketing Center Athletics moves to cash free ticketing

zoom_out_map

As you may know, Center High School and Center Middle School started using “cashless” ticketing for athletic events and activities at the start of this school year. The response from our fans has been wonderful. Lines to get in the games move much faster, giving our fans more time to enjoy the game with less time waiting in line.

Effective January 1, 2024 we are going to start going exclusively cashless for all events where admission is charged (football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, wrestling, and school plays).

Here is how it works:

  • You will need to sign up for a GoFan account. Click this link - Center High School Events and Tickets by GoFan and click on “Sign In” at the top right corner. Follow the prompts to set up your account.

  • You can download the GoFan app onto your phone through Play Store for Android or the Apple App Store as a way to access your tickets. You can also receive your tickets by email.

  • If you go to at least 8 games per season, the best value is to purchase a season pass for $40. This gives you unlimited admission for both high school and middle school events. Click this link - Center High School Events and Tickets by GoFan - and choose the All Fall or All Winter Sports Pass. This pass is good for up to four people.

  • If you go to fewer than 8 games in a season, you can purchase individual game tickets using the same link.

Both methods will send your ticket to your mobile phone. When you arrive at the game, just open the Go Fan app or your email, have your ticket scanned at the gate, and you are ready to enjoy Yellowjacket fun!

For fans who prefer to pay by cash, that can be done at either Center High School or Center Middle School. Procedures for cash purchases will be posted on the district athletics web page by December 15th.
