Check Out End of Year Updates from our Middle School!
125th and National Blue Ribbon School Celebration
We have officially wrapped up our 125th year of education at St. Mary’s. In celebration of this milestone, as well as being named a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School back in September, we hosted a Mass and celebratory barbecue at our school! We had a tremendous showing of community members at both the Mass and the barbecue. We joined together for food, music, and games (including a dunk tank!) to celebrate the community that we are so fortunate to have constantly supporting our school. We wanted to thank Janyssa Reyes, an alumna and current parent as St. Mary’s for delivering a beautiful speech at Mass. We wanted to thank our French students for their beautiful reading of the poem they wrote, along with their singing of a French recessional hymn. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all members of the St. Mary’s community who came out to support this event including: our Superintendent Eileen McLaughlin, our board members, St. Mary’s alumni, teachers, students, and families! Finally, we would like to sincerely thank all of our generous donors who support our school, and help us to continue this legacy. This was such a special way to celebrate all that our school has achieved over the last 125, and to conclude another amazing year at St. Mary’s!
Dads Basketball Tournament
Recently, we hosted our first ever dads basketball tournament in honor of Father’s Day! It was so great to see the fathers of our St. Mary’s community coming together to compete in this tournament. We had students, families, faculty, and staff cheering on the teams which made for exciting games! It was such a wonderful day, and a tradition we hope to continue in years to come!
8th Grade Graduation
Congratulations to our Class of 2025 Graduates! We are so proud of all that these students have accomplished during their time at St. Mary’s. We will miss them as they enter their next chapters, but we know they will all go on to do great things! We pray that they will carry the virtues they learned here at St. Mary’s with them as they enter high school. Know that you always have a home here at St. Mary’s, and we hope you all come to visit!
Middle School Science Fair
As they wrapped up the school year, students in grades 6-8 completed their cumulative science fair projects. Using what they've learned about the scientific method, answering research questions, and all the domains of science, students created fantastic projects. They asked thoughtful questions and created experiments and plans that would help them answer the questions. From creating magnetic slime to discovering what kind of bait catches the most fish to determining whether people can tell the different between generic and name brand chips, students showed incredible scientific thinking. Great job, scientists!
Grade 3-7 Social Studies Fair
Students in grades 3-7 worked hard on their end of year projects, and they presented them at the Social Studies fair last week! With a mix of civics, U.S. history, world history, geography, and cultural heritage, the social studies fair demonstrated all of the amazing learning students have been doing throughout the year.
Middle School Girls' Volleyball
We just finished an amazing Girls' Volleyball season! We competed in an official tournament against strong teams and ended our season with an exciting victory over St. Theresa’s. The team grew tremendously in skill, teamwork, and camaraderie. To celebrate, we spent our final afternoon together visiting boba, coffee, and ice cream shops around Brookline Village and soaking up the sunshine. We have loved spending this special time with you all!
