Principal Message👩🏻🏫
BARRON FAMILIES,
I hope this message finds you well! I want to take a moment to reflect on our successful first week of symposiums and the incredible work being done across our campus.
This past week, we focused on lessons in Pre-K through 2nd grade, ensuring that our youngest learners are receiving the foundational skills they need. Our Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) have been centered on meeting our campus and student needs, and the completion of the CIP formative evaluation by our CIT was a significant milestone. We also successfully completed TELPAS testing, while ARDs and 504 meetings led to important decisions for our students' supports.
I want to thank our Barron Families for the commitment you have made to support The IMPACT tutoring program for students in 2nd through 5th grade. IMPACT tutoring is making a positive impact on student learning and engagement. In other areas of the campus, our Coaches dedication to support the flag football program is not only promoting physical activity but also fostering teamwork and growth among our students. Additionally, our recent Career Day inspired students with insights from professionals in various fields, reinforcing our mission to empower and inspire them to thrive.
I also want to celebrate our students who achieved perfect attendance for the last 9 weeks, as well as our selected Burger King Boy and Girl. Let’s continue to encourage and engage our students every day, aiming to increase our attendance towards our goal of 94%. A special shout-out to the families who committed to bringing their children to Saturday school, and to the teachers who worked tirelessly to support Saturday student learning.
As we move into this week, we will continue with our symposiums, focusing on building student skills, both academically, and mentally. Preparing every student through test-taking strategies, understanding the importance to believe in themselves, stay focused, and remember that we are all cheering for them!
We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Portillo as our interim assistant principal as we prepare for the upcoming interviews for Barron's Assistant Principal position.
Together, we are living our campus vision empowering and inspiring students to thrive. Thank you for your collaboration, cooperation, and for entrusting us to educate your children.
Warm regards,
Ms. Vasquez

STAAR Tips
Testing Tips for Parents:
Before the Test:
Prioritize Sleep:Ensure your child gets a good night's sleep the night before the test, as sleep deprivation can negatively impact cognitive function.
Plan Ahead:Help your child create a study schedule and understand what material will be covered on the test.
- Avoid Cramming:Discourage last-minute cramming, as it can increase anxiety and hinder performance.
- Healthy Breakfast:Make sure your child eats a nutritious and filling breakfast on the morning of the test.
- Communicate with Teachers:Stay in touch with your child's teachers to understand the testing schedule and any specific expectations.
- Positive Reinforcement:Offer positive reinforcement and encouragement to help your child feel confident and prepared.
- Create a Study Space:Provide a quiet and organized space where your child can study effectively.
- Practice Test-Taking Skills:Help your child practice test-taking strategies, such as reading instructions carefully, managing time, and using the process of elimination.
- Know the Testing Calendar:Be aware of the testing schedule and make sure your child is prepared for each test.
- Attend School Events:If your child's school has parent-teacher meetings or testing information sessions, attend them to stay informed.
- Arrive Early:Make sure your child arrives at school on time, or even a little early, to avoid feeling rushed and stressed.
Healthy Habits:Encourage your child to maintain a healthy routine, including regular meals, exercise, and sleep.
Listen Intently:Remind your child to listen carefully to all directions given by the test administrator.
Take Brain Breaks:Teach your child how to take short "brain breaks" during the test to help reduce anxiety and improve focus.
Remain Positive:Stay calm and positive, and reassure your child that they have prepared well.
Focus on Effort:Remind your child that the most important thing is to do their best, regardless of the outcome.
Don't Get Upset:Remind your child that one test score doesn't define their overall academic ability or worth.

PURPLE UP EVERY FRIDAY!!💜💜
Why purple? Purple is chosen because it combines the colors of the different branches of the military: Army green, Marine red, and Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard blue.
When it's observed: While the Month of the Military Child is in April, many communities and schools choose a specific "Purple Up!" day within that month to focus their effort
Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) ⭐
Just a reminder to attend Field Trips, volunteer on our campus, or actively work with PTA you must fill out a Volunteer In Public School ( VIPs) form with EPISD. You must renew your application every school year ( Only good from August - June) . This is district protocol for the safety of our students and staff.
Once you have been approved Ms.N Croissant will reach out via email letting you know and what events we have coming up at the time.
Please keep in mind the district office recommended approval time is 2-5 business days, but due to the high numbers of applications coming in daily around Field Trip Season it has taken up to 2 weeks before.
