FHS Bowling Club
Fernley High School Bowling
At Fernley High School (FHS), a succesful bowling team is gearing up for the league championship!
The team made up of 16 FHS students. The club competes against other high schools in the area, in bowling matches with head to head matchups. Mike DuTeillo and Jessica Davis are the coaches for the club team.
Jessica Davis states, "They have worked extremely hard and during the play offs have shown their amazing skills."
The playoff consists of what is called a Bakers Trios format, where three athletes are bowling for one game against three other athletes bowling one game. This format can be extremely difficult, and requires great team work.
FHS has won the valley division conference for the second year in a row and will be competing for their second league championship on February 28th at 3pm at the National Bowling Stadium at 300 University Way in Reno.
After the championship match, multiple students will be receiving awards, and scholarships. They will also be announcing the Junior Varsity, Varisy, and All Star teams.
As well as bowling for the team, multiple athletes bowl competitively at both the local and national level. Two of the junior members, Hailey Havel and Jason Heimbruch, have made it to the youth city masters finals. Hailey Havel also won the entire youth girls division which awarded her a college scholarship.
Davis shares some highlights from the year:
Matthew Paiz (Senior), picked up an extremely difficult 9-7 split during the first round of playoffs.
The trio team of Ronnie Gomez (Senior) , Landon Brodie (Freshman), and Matthew Paiz (Senior) shot a 264 game having the front 9 strikes.
Isaiah DuTeillo(Junior) picked up the 6-7 split.

The tour guide facilitated a highly informative session, encouraging the girls to ask numerous questions. Topics covered included cosmetology, nail technology, school schedules, and expenses, including discussions on FAFSA, grants, and application procedures. Additionally, details on state board application and testing fees were provided. This immersive experience offered the students valuable insight into the world of cosmetology careers.
