Good Afternoon Bethany Families,
Welcome to the first Bobcat Blast Newsletter for the 2025-2026 school year. You will receive this newsletter every Thursday during the school year, filled with information and school updates.
It is hard to be believe we are half way through July already. We hope you have been staying cool in this warm weather.
The school office is currently closed for the month of July. That doesn't mean we're not planning for this upcoming year. Please take a moment to read through this newsletter for important information.
Bethany doesn’t have a traditional school supply list. Instead of each family shopping on their own, we collect the money needed for supplies. We started doing this a few years ago, and it has worked well. This year, we are asking for a $35 donation for each student.
This system has several benefits:
- All students in a class have the same supplies
- Supplies purchased in bulk are less expensive
- Teachers only buy what they need. (prevents stockpiles or waste)
- Flexibility to purchase more enriching and creative materials for projects.
We will start buying supplies in a few weeks, so we are now ready to accept donations. You can donate in a couple of ways:
- Pay online with a credit card starting today. Check out the links below for the online payment system and instructions if this is your first time.
- Cash or Check: You can bring cash or a check to the school office when it opens in August. You can also pay during Lemonade in the Shade,
We understand that some families are not able to afford the cost of supplies. All children will receive the same supplies, regardless if they are able to contribute towards the cost.
Some families may be in the position to make an extra donation towards helping others. If you would like to help by giving extra money, please click on the "Donations" tab that appears on your child's grade level page.
These donations are flexible, and confidential--only the office knows who donates and how much.
Online Payment Link. Starting this year the District will be adding a fee for using the credit card system to cover the transaction fees charged by banks:
- Starting August 1, a convenience fee of 40 cents plus 3.69% of the sale amount will be applied to all credit card transactions. This includes both in-person payments at school locations as well as payments processed through the online portal. (The cost will be approximately $1.30 in fees). No fee will be applied to payments made by cash or check.

August 22nd
2:30 - 3:30pm: Meet your teacher and see your classrooms
3:30: Join other Bethany families outside to reconnect with old friends and make new ones.
As a parent, it's crucial to know when your child's school will be closed for various events. Planning ahead can help you make arrangements for childcare, schedule family vacations, and ensure that your child doesn't miss any important school days.
Our school events calendar includes all the important dates you need to know, such as:
- Vacation Days: Find out when your child will have time off for holidays, including Thanksgiving, Winter Break, Spring Break, and more.
- Conferences: Learn when parent-teacher conferences are scheduled. You will receive information from your teacher on how to sign up, as we get closer to the dates.
- Teacher Workdays: Discover when teachers will be working but students will have the day off, giving you a chance to plan activities for your child.
We will have other events added to our calendar through the school year, and will share that information through the weekly Bobcat Blast Newsletter.
August 26 - 29th
Kindergarten students will attend school in smaller groups for HALF DAYS during the first week of school for more personalized attention. Please click on the link below for important information about this schedule.
For the second year in a row, all students in the Beaverton School District can get one free breakfast and one free lunch each day during the 2025-26 school year. Students don’t need to pay or fill out extra forms to take advantage of this benefit.

To safeguard the safety and well-being of our students and staff, each prospective volunteer must complete an application through our districtwide volunteer management system called Raptor and then submit to an Oregon criminal records check. You'll receive a confirmation email as soon as the application has been approved.
We encourage families to complete the volunteer application and background check this summer. Doing it now should help you get approved before school begins.
Our Jog-A-Thon is coming up in September, and we'll need many volunteers. If you'd like to help out, please make sure your volunteer application is finished beforehand.
The Beaverton School District is serving free lunches for all children (ages 1-18). Adults can eat lunch for $5 per meal. No application or registration is necessary. In addition to lunch, some sites will offer breakfast in conjunction with scheduled summer school programs.
Lunch is being served on Monday through Thursday at the following sites.

Check the Summer Meal Program webpage for dates and times plus menus. There’s also an interactive map on our website that shows the locations within the district. In addition, you can call 211, and an operator can assist you in finding a site in your area.
