Why NotebookLM? Why NotebookLM?

The logo for NotebookLM set against a plain white background. The logo consists of a black stylized icon on the left, composed of three concentric arching lines or "waves" that create a modern, abstract shape. To the right of the icon, the word **"NotebookLM"** is written in a clean, black, sans-serif typeface.

We aren't at a lack of information any more and haven't been for a long time. However, we are at a shortage on time.

Articles on the Science of Reading. PDFs on upcoming policies. Reports on the efficacy of practices. Videos on a new curriculum. Notes from the last staff meeting.

All of them can go into your NotebookLM, and the information you're getting is only what you provide, a stark difference from most AI tools that rely on the internet or a LLM.

Here are three recent updates that could make you and your students more effective every day!

Three Updates for Teachers and Students! Three Updates for Teachers and Students!

A screenshot of an AI-powered slide deck editor interface titled "Puppy Foundations Eight to Sixteen Weeks." The main focus is Slide 9, which is currently being edited. The slide is titled "Surviving the ‘Land Shark’ Phase" and subtitled "Teaching Bite Inhibition and a Soft Mouth." It features a four-step "Action Hierarchy" graphic: The Yelp: Making a high-pitched "Ow!" sound. Go Limp: Making hands "boring" and stopping play. Redirect: Putting a toy in the puppy's mouth. Time-Out: Leaving the room for 30 seconds. Below the slide preview, a text input box contains the partial command: "Change the title to 'How to". On the right sidebar, a vertical thumbnail gallery shows other slides in the presentation, such as "Potty Training Fundamentals" and "Leash Walking." At the bottom right, a blue button reads "Generate new deck."

Update Slides in NotebookLM

You can now update presentation content, request changes, and fix issues with the generated slides. You can also leave style or accuracy feedback on each slide, and the slides will quickly be regenerated as a new deck in the Studio panel.

A screenshot of a **"Customize Infographic"** pop-up window within an AI application. The interface allows users to configure an infographic before generation with the following options: * **Choose language:** A dropdown menu set to **"English."** * **Choose orientation:** Toggle buttons for **"Landscape"** (selected), "Portrait," and "Square." * **Choose visual style:** A row of illustrated rocket ship icons representing different styles: **"Auto-select"** (selected with a blue checkmark), "Sketch Note," "Kawaii," "Professional," "Scientific," and "Anime." * **Level of detail:** Toggle buttons for "Concise," **"Standard"** (selected), and "Detailed (BETA)." * **Description box:** A text input field where the user has typed: **"focus on puppy crate training."** * **Action button:** A blue **"Generate"** button in the bottom right corner. In the blurred background, the main application interface is visible, showing a "Sources" sidebar with links to puppy training guides and YouTube videos.

New Infographic Styles

You can now choose from ten infographic styles to create a visual summary of your sources. Options include Sketch Note, Kawaii, Professional, Scientific, Anime, Clay, Editorial, Instructional, Bento Grid, and Bricks. If you prefer, NotebookLM can still automatically pick the style that fits your sources best.

A screenshot of a menu titled **"Studio"** featuring a grid of interactive buttons for various content generation tools. Each button includes a small icon and a right-pointing arrow. The available options are: * **Audio Overview** * **Slide Deck** * **Video Overview** * **Mind Map** * **Reports** * **Flashcards** (highlighted with an orange border) * **Quiz** (highlighted with an orange border) * **Infographic** * **Data Table** The interface has a dark theme, and the overall layout suggests a dashboard for creating educational or organizational materials.

Improvements for Flashcards and Quizzes

Your progress in Flashcards and Quizzes is now saved, so you can pick up where you left off on web or mobile. You can also mark flashcards as "Got it" or "Missed it," shuffle the deck, review missed cards on a new results screen, and delete individual flashcards or quiz questions.

I was going to tell a joke about a pencil...

But it’s pointless.
