Navigating 504s
The Allegheny Intermediate Unit's Training & Consultation Team is offering two professional learning opportunities designed to strengthen district and building-level implementation of Chapter 15/Section 504 supports.
The first opportunity, Navigating 504s: Building Systems and Procedures as a Team, is a full-day, in-person training designed for school-based teams. Participants will build a shared understanding of legal requirements, eligibility determination, service agreements, accommodations, and LEA responsibilities while developing efficient systems and procedures for implementing and monitoring Section 504 supports.
The second opportunity, Section 504 Basics: Understanding Service Agreements and Accommodations, is a 2.5-hour virtual training designed for educators and school personnel responsible for writing, reviewing, and implementing Section 504 service agreements. This session provides a foundational understanding of Section 504 requirements and focuses on developing meaningful, individualized accommodations, documenting supports appropriately, and ensuring compliance with Chapter 15 and Section 504 regulations.
Together, these trainings provide both the systems-level foundation needed to establish effective district and building practices and the practical skills necessary to develop high-quality Section 504 service agreements that support student success.
