At Carver Middle High School, we are committed to ensuring that all students have the skills they need to succeed academically and thrive within our school community and afterwards. To help us better understand the collective needs of our student body, we will be asking students in grades 6-12 to complete a brief survey called mySAEBRS (Social, Academic, and Emotional Behavior Risk Screener) on March 12th.

Students will complete the survey during their WIN block. Scheduling it during this time ensures that no instructional time will be lost in students’ classes.

The mySAEBRS survey is a short, evidence-based tool in which students confidentially self-assess their own strengths across three key areas: social, academic, and emotional behaviors. ] essential skills that help students focus, participate, and relate to others, which are directly linked to their ability to learn and succeed in school.

Students complete the self-assessment by rating the frequency of their behaviors in the previous month, using a rating scale of Never, Sometimes, Often, and Almost Always. Students respond to 20 items focused on:

  • Academic Behavior such as “I like school”, “I get good grades”, and “It's hard to pay attention in class”

  • Social Behavior such as “ I am respectful”, “I have trouble waiting my turn”, and “I lose my temper

  • Emotional Behavior such as “”I feel nervous”, “I am happy” and “When something bad happens, it takes me a while to feel better”.

The primary goal of collecting this information is to help us continue to provide a positive and healthy school culture. By looking for big-picture trends, we can identify what our student body or specific grade levels are doing well and where we might need to offer more opportunities for growth.

We value your partnership in your child's education. If you would prefer that your child not participate in this survey, please complete the brief Google Form linked below by March 11th.
