Superintendent Weekly Update
February 4th, 2024
Volume 3/Issue 22 - February 4th, 2024
What was this weather???? Unbelievable to see the ground again and not all the white! Continue to use caution on the roads as it will/has become sloppy. We have a lot of great events on the horizon and looking forward to seeing the great things that go on in and outside of the school!

Message for the Week:
Message from Mr. Tejkl
Where is your mindset?...
Good morning!
I missed you last week and I apologize to all who read this (hoping the majority haha). I hope you had a great weekend and survived the wet and dreary day that was Saturday. However, we had a tremendous speech meet that we hosted and it was so great to see many of our students perform. If you have the opportunity to do so, make sure you come to a meet or two (because you will not be able to see everyone who competes because our numbers are so big which is great!). Also, we had girls wrestling districts occur and congratulations to those whose season came to a close. Basketball continues to march to the conclusion of their seasons while boys wrestling has districts at the end of the week! Another home event so come on out Friday and/or Saturday!
What a whirlwind of a month and a year that we have had. January seemed to come and go with no hesitation and here we are in the shortest month where there are many activities that keep us moving forward at a fast rate! With all the great things that happen, there are a few hiccups along the way. The lack of light throughout the day or month can lead to mood changes. Whether that is being shorter than normal with others, a shorter fuse, or just being in a "funk", it can affect us and those around us negativity.
There are also those events in day where our judgement or trust can be altered because of conversations or actions from others that has us questioning what we are doing. When that happens, I know that my mind begins to doubt what I am doing and questions start to swirl around. I have questioned if I am making the right decisions? Am I following procedures, policies and handbooks correctly every time? Am I being too hard, soft or just right with how I treat my own kids and loved ones? Am I just taking things personally and should just shrug it off?
Many of you may feel these feelings at some point as well and it is normal. Honestly, I would assume that it is human nature. We do everything we can to be good for those around us that the thought of faltering can put us in a tailspin within our mind. If you mind is troubled by doubt, you cannot focus on the course of victory.
I am very fortunate to have a tremendous staff, energetic students, and a supportive family that is there for me when needed. That doesn't mean I utilize it every time but I know they are there when needed. I also rely on the fact that my WHY is surrounded to do what is best for my staff, my students, and my district. I have trustworthy friends who help me with decisions or lend an ear when needed. It keeps me focused, it clears my mind, and my WHY let me know that I am doing the things I need to do to better those around me. I hope that you have your WHY and that when doubt creeps in, your values lead you to know you are focused and that you are doing what you are supposed to be doing!
Have a great rest of your Sunday and I will see you tomorrow!
Quote of the week to reflect on:
"A mind troubled by doubt cannot focus on the course of victory."

Tucker Tejkl
